View Full Version : Recruit...QB Allen?
Man this kid is big... sure seems like a pro style build
and not exactly a fit for what we have been running.
Anyone else get the same feeling or is there something
here I'm missing?
Thanks for your input.:music-smiley-005:

I thought the same thing but I would bet they could adjust the offense to be based more around his arm vs. how it's based around ZR's wheels now. Pretty flexible offense.

Allen has a better arm, but not as good of wheels. Decent wheels, but Zac has the best QB wheels in the conferance. I think the most important thing for a QB to posess is a quality arm. Drew has that!

Next time please send one of the admins/mods a message, and they'll remove it. I don't have the time to read every thread right now.
Thanks.

I said I receive it in an email from a friend who is a member:confused:
Sorry Frank....
Know you didn't mean any harm and your input was appreciated.
But I do understand AnnieP's situation!
Does anyone know if we have a shot at Tettleton walking on?
Sure seems like that would be a great move for him.
Also, who is the Hudson (DL) folks are saying we have a great
shot at?
Thanks,
Bug

I would like to see Tettelton walk on as well. Unless he has such a great year that he earns a qb scholly. He's gonna have to prove he's got the knee to run, cut, drop back on, etc....He's a good athlete and could play other places as well.
Hudson is our first camp find I believe. Our new dline coach loves him, and his video's are flat awesome. 2a competition though in texas. Look for him to blow up in recruiting later this year. I think they would like to wrap him up before the season starts, but who knows.

I agree Tettleton is a talent. I just don't see him at a big time program. Although, I'd love to have him.
Cactus I'm sure you've seen his vids on rivals. Didn't you like the way he ran when he had to and also when they ran the option. Hell, he was runnin safeties over in his highlights. His arm is amazing. I saw him float at least a 60yard touchdown. Put it right in the bread basket too.
If we can secure Allen, I think we'd be in great shape at QB. He'll get faster in Glass' program and will be able to red-shirt to fully grasp the offense. I like him to start in '10-'11. He reminds me alot of Zac in the way he moves on the field. Runs with his head up and always looking either to juke or run someone over.
We'll see how it goes. We're up against Colorado and Purdue among others. I hope he committs and it sounds like he had a really good visit.

I agree. Allen says his coach is going to run him more this year. They run an offense much like ours, but haven't optioned out of it that much. Word is he will show his running ability more this season. He'll never be Zac running, but he's got a chance to be a bigtime qb with a great arm and better than average wheels.

I agree, he won't be a Zac, but I think with better than average wheels and a better arm he'll fit what we do nicely. What I've learned about this offense over the years is that it really relies on a good running game. Kinda ironic. It thrived with Dantrell and Toston and freshman surprise Hunter. So, I believe not only do we have to recruit fast Qb's who can improvise on the run, we also need to have top notch running backs as well.

I sure hope either cate or weeden stepup over the next couple of years, if not you will be starting a redshirt freshman with no experience.

Guys and gals, comparing any future QB to Zac is pretty much unfair...he's a rare talent. We're incredibly lucky to have him...and I hope that we all appreciated Dantrell's contributions b/c we're going to miss him VERY much. Hunter and Johnson and Toston need to be ready to take their roles on with gusto, as the coaches are pressing them to step it up NOW.
I like Allen a lot...the kid's a special find and I hope he becomes a Poke. Tettleton, as noted, has tons to prove coming back from such an injury as his. While I think him walking on is completely possible, picking up Allen is far more important to us, IMO. Allen loved his unofficial to OSU and the visit probably kept us at the forefront on his list of schools, and by that I mean we're likely in his Top 3. Tettleton is going to have to blow our coaches minds, frankly, to receive Allen-like attention and him being a walk-on may be his best bet.

You're right about Robinson. Although he receives quite a bit of media and fan attention, he's nonetheless underrated/under-appreciated. However, while Savage was an awesome college back, I don't think we'll have a drop-off at the position. Hunter is another player who doesn't get enough credit, and I expect the Hunter-Johnson (and possibly Toston) combination to be extremely productive.

Do you guys see Kye Staley playing this year or will he redshirt?

Word is he reported to camp out of shape. Not a huge deal, as the newcomers often struggle with this level of workload. I think he'll play. I also think August will determine that for him and the coaches. How well he picks up the offense and how well his body adjusts to the workouts. If I were guessing, I say he plays. CactusJack seems to think that Toston needs to redshirt to allow his knee to fully heal, citing Petersons quick return from the same injury with sub par speed and explosiveness. But reports from camp state he's in top physical condition and has no lingering effects, so who knows. I think RB is gonna be a heated competition the rest of the summer into the first 4 games. I wouldn't be surprised to see Staley red-shirt if Toston is game ready and shows he's got it back.

I think the season when OSU went to Arizona State to play them the first game OSU had three, maybe four very good running backs. It's not out of question to have all four play and not redshirt any of them. Besides with OSU's luck, OSU will need the depth. And whomever plays, they better hold onto the ball!

I still predict that Kye will be a great linebacker before he leaves!:music-smiley-005:
I was really hoping they might move Moore from his safety spot to running back. The kid from Arkansas that redshirted last season. If he's showing signs of being a really good safety someday, so be it, but he's got the size and speed to be a good running back as well.
