Enid energy company gives $1 million to OSU

The Associated Press
STILLWATER (AP) - An Enid-based energy company has given $1 million to Oklahoma State University during a recent push for donations for endowed chairs at the school.

Harold Hamm is the chairman and chief executive officer of Continental Resources. He says he cannot remember a more exciting time to be working in the energy industry.

The gift was given before a June 30 deadline, which means that under a matching program for gifts for endowed chairs that is now on hold, the state will match the gift dollar-for-dollar.

The gift first will be matched by funds from a $100 million gift given to OSU in May by billionaire oilman T. Boone Pickens. That means Continental Resources' gift will provide a $4 million benefit to the university.
