With football season around the cornner i havent heard which receivers are going to start. So would this lineup be close to what you guys are thinking who will start at wr ?
#1 Dez Bryant most certainly will start.

#2 DeMarcus Conner will he be the #2 guy ? I want to see this kid play.

#3 Jeremy Broadway I thought he had made some good plays and I am a
fan of his.

#4 Josh Cooper will he be a special teams guy or will he be the #3 guy ?

#5 Tevin Williams is he a back up or is he still on the team ?

What about Hubert Anyiam will he be the 4th or 5 th wr if we run 5 wideouts ?

I am not sure if we will run 5 wideouts , so would I be wrong to think the regular formation will involve 4 wrs and a te .

the reason I mentioned Tevin Williams was someone else heard we would see more of him but i had questions about him and our other wrs and that is why I mentioned our lineup.

Before this week I would have said:

Dez, Davis, Woods

It may still end up that way... but something inside of me keeps saying that Bo Bowling is going to be seeing serious PT at WR/Slot.

I'm hoping that Cole and Anyiam can really come through, but neither one is very tall. (relatively)

Tevin Williams graduated at least two years ago. Hands of stone.

Dez is #1......from there on its who produces this fall.

Broadway will be a senior, but has never lived up to the hype. He will get his shot though.

Artie Woods will have to prove he's 100%, and if he is, you will see alot of him. He may have lost some of the speed that would have helped him stretch the field, but he's a very good receiver. Will be fun to watch in 2 a days.

Hubert Anyiam has blazing speed, and has added at least 20+ pounds of muscle last year. He will get a chance.

Damian Davis will probably be your other starter. The kid is still very skinny, but adding some weight. He was a great blocker for a true freshman last season. He's 6'5 and can really jump. He will be in the doghouse because of the fake ID thing, but look for him to start.

Josh Cooper had a bad hammy all last fall. We shall see. He would be a great slot receiver. He's gonna have to prove that he can get off the line of scrimmage, block, run routes, etc.......

Demarcus Conner looked good last fall, but didn't see much time if any. He's a thick wide out. Big kid, that can go get the ball, but he may have been recruited over. Needs to have a breakout fall camp.

William Cole is the other WR you are missing. He was a complete stud qb that came in as a cornerback, but was moved to wr when he was unhappy he wasn't seeing the field. Cole has alot to learn, but his talent is impressive. He would be a great slot, h back kind of guy that can run reverses, wr screens, bubble screens, take a handoff, and even run the option. Hope he's added muscle and some smarts this off season.

thanks cactusjack and cali its is hard for me to keep with our players for it seems as they come and go so quickly.

I think mike needs to recuit a couple more wrs in a year or two who are just like dez bryant. the only problem with that is guys like Bryant and bowman dont grow on trees.

hey catcus jack my Dad once had a horse named cactus jack we won 3 or 4 horse races with him then dad used him as a cutting horse .

the players that i think would have helped us this year is Justin Waller and Paschal Smith but its a shame that Waller's knee didnt hold up and Paschal hadnt of done whatever he did to kicked off the team.

I am very excited to see Artrell Woods play lets hope he can stay healthy .

yeah, him, another guy, and Broadway was in the doghouse but not kicked off.

I don't remember what bone-headed thing they did.

I thought someone reported two of them were caught in a car smoking weed. Not sure where I read that but I think that was the story. I'm talking about Pascal and the other guy (not Broadway).

Cactus is spot on.
Dez the clear leader.
Davis' blocking for a freshman was fantastic. Besides learning that bars are for adults, he still needs to add weight. During the Spring he had off and on days, the on days were great the off were hands of stone.
The number 3 was wide open. Cooper did not display the great hands expected but perhaps that will flip back this Fall. Cole needs to be used for things other than reverses or bubble shots, everyone anticipates that usage. Bowling could be the tough guy over the middle.
Anyiman or Woods needs to stretch the defense. Woods is reported to be running 4.6 which is great, but needs the former after burners to get all the way back.
Conner and Broadway will have to hang on or will get passed by the others.

Ahh yes, I had forgot about Bowling. A walk-on that might really get some playing time. Cooper and Cole will have to step up their games to beat him out. He really showed something in the spring.

Good job bringing him up DNA! We have alot of talent at WR, but I think you can add up all their catches last year on two hands except for Dez. If I was a fan of another team, I would say OSU has one heck of a tight end and one great receiver, but nothing else.

You gotta prove'em wrong! Hope they do.

You guys brought up that besides Pettigrew and Bryant, we really don't have a receiving threat like we had last year with Bowman. Couple this fact with the loss of Savage, and I think our offense is going to take a drop off. Nothing drastic, but I don't anticipate it being as explosive as last year until we add a 3rd receiving threat.

I think our defense is going to have to get us some more opportunities for our offense to produce like last year.

I have that sense about our offense, too. I think the loss of Savage is going to be very tough. He had that way of making plays out of nothing.

The lack of an established second TE will also impact our running game. We were extremely effective causing misalignments and mismatches through the use of the second TE. Cooper Bassett could be our second TE without a redshirt year.

Bowling is the best kept secret on our WR corps. He's poised to make some waves, in a good sense...

I agree because if Waller was still on the roster we would not have throw a freshman into the fire.

do any of you know if we are recruiting a big runningback like Adrian Peterson ? We need a another big wr but a big runningback would be great also.

I don't know about recruiting, but Staley is 6 foot and 215 coming in as a true freshman.

I'm not sure anybody knows who we are recruiting, other than a couple of juco linemen. We want a qb but continue to go down the list on them. :pete:

I don't agree with the offense being down this year. I think we'll be better. Maybe not as balanced but I think the running game will shine this year. Zac's ability to scramble makes counter runs, sweeps, and the option much easier.

Who knows what Staley can do on the next level, but I think we'll find out the when practice starts and like what we see. I like the RB situation. Hunter and Johnson will be a great 1,2 punch. If Toston can get mentally tough on that knee I think he'll contribute. Staley could be a surprise at RB, we'll see how fast he can pick up the offense and that they may be the difference between a good backfield and an all conference one. Staley comes in with the size to compete and again his retention of the offense plays a big part. I can bet Brewer and company will put a few "wrinkles" in for him.

You take a look at our receivers and ya gotta just be amazed at the job Gundy has done recruiting wideouts for this offense. Anyiam is an awesome redshirt freshman. Being able to put him in the cupboard for a year in Glass' program has paid off. He's increased speed and size. Woods has a chance to play and we'll see how he does in Seattle before you can name a real 3rd option. Dez and Pettigrew are gonna be 1 and 2, after that you can go to about 4 deep with Bowling, Cooper, Woods, Davis, Cole and you gotta a pretty loaded receiving core not counting the rookies. I think you'll see Isiah Anderson red-shirt, but look for Blackmon and Adrian Richards to come in adn make some noise. Richards is a guy I was really excited about when he signed. 6-4 with 4.4 speed coming in at 190. Get him up to 215 or so and he'll be set! This kid had 8 D1 offers and has got great instincts. He came form a spread offense in high school. Can go long and burn corners or can go across the middle and take hits with the ball. Great lookin athlete. Can go up for the ball, adjust well while the ball is in the air, take the screen and make people miss. Just a playmaker all around. Man, I could go on and on about our receivers and how well I think they are gonna do.

The real concern of mine is the defense, not the offense. Our linebackers have me scared. Our D-line is decent but green. If we should debate something, it should be how our defense is gonna get out of the cellar this year!!!

Toston MUST redshirt. I don't care how 100% he feels. You need nearly 2 years to come back from that injury.

Just think....Nathan Peterson was cleared to play his soph. season, and we played him. He was never the Peterson we saw his freshman year. He would be a 5th year senior this season. The leader that this defense could have really used....and he would have been much better than that soph. year.

Redshirt Toston!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the offense can be potent, but there are some key contribuitors that must step up for us to not take a step backwards. The pieces appear to be there (Beau Johnson, Toston, Woods, Cole, Davis, Bowling, etc.) but none of them have proved it yet.... it's a wait-n-see for that group.

Like the offense, the defense has the opportunity to be much better with more depth and apparently a more fierce attitude, but lilke the offense that group also needs some guys to step up (Miller, Patrick, Richetti, Blatnick, the 2 JUCO LBs, and the new JUCO Safety and CB, plus Martin). It's wait-n-see for that group too.

For us to be a great team, the Special Teams unit really needs to step up. We have a punter and one return guy and that's it. The kicker needs to prove himself, another retun guy is needed (or two), and the mostly coverage needs to be greatly improved.

Even with all thost needs, we are one injury away from complete disaster (QB, RB, DE, TE).

This season, it seems, above the rest, has the potential to be great with some luck and guys stepping up, the pall of average hanging over us, and the fear of complete disaster... all three are very possible.
