George Kaiser Family Foundation makes $25 million gift to higher education in Tulsa area, including $9 million to OSU
The George Kaiser Family Foundation has contributed $25 million to enhance higher education programs in the Tulsa area, including a $9 million donation to boost endowed faculty chairs at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa, OSU Center for Health Sciences and OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee.
With this gift, the Kaiser Foundation aims to improve several priority needs in the community, including health and social services, education, engineering and technology and vocational training. The public institutions will use the funds to expand academic programs by adding key faculty and increasing student enrollment.
“Oklahoma State University is extremely grateful to George Kaiser and the George Kaiser Family Foundation for this wonderful gift and for his vision and on-going commitment to higher education,” said OSU President Burns Hargis. “This generous gift will make a lasting difference in the Tulsa area and because it will be matched by T. Boone Pickens’ historic $100 million donation, as well as the state, the gift will have an ultimate impact of $36 million for OSU programs on our campuses at OSU-Tulsa, Center for Health Sciences and Okmulgee.”
