I was glad,as I was rooting for Fresno, after the UG coach made the comment that "Nobody remembers who comes in second". Well coach,I hope you just had your 15 minutes, afterall he was a player on the 1990 Georgia NCAA championship team. And as an OSU fan,I certainly remember who came in 2nd that year :( Yep, that year the college world series was double elimination until a 1 game title game. So an undefeated OSU team, played a one loss UG team, and UG won 2-1 I believe. So instead of the series tied 1 game apiece, and needing one more, UG won the NCAA title. Good thing,as nobody would have beaten that OSU team twice. Oh well coach, nobody will remember how Georgia choked after winning the fist game of the 3 game series,or blew the 5-0 lead in game two, instead congrats Fresno!

My thoughts exactly, Superaggie2.
I have never been a fan of that other dog baseball team with the borrowed packer logo.

we have Gary Ward to thank for that format, it was only way CWS could get on a major network and if I remember right Georgia only had one good pitcher:furious3:

Good pitching always beats good hitting. That was the story of Gary Ward baseball in the CWS. Who do we have to think for all our Cowboy pitching back then? Could it have been a former catcher?

I am especially happy, as the starting pitcher from Georgia.......
who many years ago gave OSU fits with his junk, junkier and junkiest pitches when they beat us for the National Championship (never mind they had one loss, we were undefeated, in what had previously been a double elim tourney, then to go to a one game series that year?)....
subsequently became a very good friend. Go anyone but UGA, that is what I say :) And yes, he will read this. Fresno who? He He He

Yes,your speaking of Stan'What a "Payne he was to us. Georgia may have gotten the trophy that year, but even they know in their hearts, they wern't the best team overall. Oh well, like UGA's assclown said this week "Nobody remembers who came in 2nd". So who was it that Fresno beat again :) Congrats Fresno and thanks for the choke UGA,

I can tell you that is some great news for a Fresno program that has had so much bad publicity recently with all the lawsuits against their athletic department...
Their football team is supposed to be pretty salty this year too...

I'm convinced that we win the CWS in 1990 if we play the same format as now, a best 2 out of 3 in the final. Georgia used every pitcher that had to beat us because there was no reason to save an arm for tomorrow.

As many of you may know, there's an Oklahoma connection to Fresno State's baseball team. Their head coach, Mike Batesole, was a standout player at Oral Roberts University.

For some reason, there are two schools in the SEC that I just loathe. One is Georgia. And the other is LSU. I just can't stand for them to win anything. I also like schools like Fresno State, Cal State Fullerton; who don't have the marque sports programs like those from the larger schools. So; CONGRATULATIONS FSU BULLDOGS!!!

Even though you didn't actually ask ...
"Being with a woman all night never hurt no professional baseball player. It's staying up all night looking for a woman that does him in."
"All right, everybody line up alphabetically according to your height."
"The secret of managing is to keep the guys who hate you away from the guys who are undecided."
"All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you. The only thing blame does is to keep the focus off you when you are looking for external reasons to explain your unhappiness or frustration. You may succeed in making another feel guilty about something by blaming him, but you won't succeed in changing whatever it is about you that is making you unhappy."
And maybe my favorite is:
"You can't execute without the executioners."
I didn't remember that he was a lefty. That explains it all.
