So, are these funds going to be matched by the state or not? I keep hearing that the state changed the rules and past $250,000 it's only going to match
.25 on the dollar in lieu of dollar for dollar. What's the deal?

I was hoping to reach a billion dollars soon. Darn our state government and its stupid promises.

New law goes into effect July 1. Until then, the matching provision is applicable, though there is a "line" of donations to be matched. To try to help with it, there is a $100 million bond issue authorized.

That's why you're seeing these announcements now before the new law goes into effect.

Well Boren is actually sitting pretty as they had a campaign and got a lot of money in already. They just didn't push it right up till the deadline like we did. I saw one report that had them in the 100 million range for this program.

I think a small part of it will. Obviously the half for athletics won't, and I think a big chunk of it is going into a fund for updates to the business building. Although there will be several chairs funded ($500K a piece) with this money. That part will be matched by the state. I heard the breakdown before, but I really don't remember. Should find out tomorrow when we get the official announcement.

Who knows? It seems the stories about ou are about spending -- they are installing a new video screen at the football stadium (supposed to the 5th largest in the nation) and they are about to make Crapel a millionaire.

And then our news is just about the rich getting richer! :D

I think they only match for certain types of gifts (i.e., endowed chairs, and a few other things), not for facilities, etc.

It sounds like some of the money will be earmarked for endowed chairs and could be eligible for match, but it doesn't sound like much of it will be matched... I think that's what the current matching program is...

Add another $1 million donated which will be matched.

Alum donates $1 million to create four OSU faculty positions benefiting future educators

Oklahoma State University announced today a $1 million gift from alumna Susan Jacques to establish four professorships within the College of Education benefiting special education, reading and literacy education, health promotion and counseling. Once fully matched dollar-for-dollar by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education as well as T. Boone Pickens’ $100 million chair match commitment, the gift will provide $4 million in endowed funds.

A 1975 Arts and Sciences graduate and former science teacher now residing in Texas, Jacques made the gift hoping it would inspire teachers and future teachers while lessening the burden of university-related expenses.

“This is a wonderful gift that will leave an incredible legacy for Susan Jacques and her family,” said OSU President Burns Hargis. “We appreciate her stepping forward at this time to make a truly significant impact on the OSU College of Education and on future teachers.”

Thanks JD, just read the same thing in the paper. It's not as bad as I originally thought. Evidently, wen they get the backlog paid off, it is supposed to revert back to $ for $.
