Just listened to an interview with Jerry Rice on the Adam Carolla show this morning (Rice is a spokesman for NFL Mobile on Sprint phones). What a class freaking guy!
He talked about his Super Bowls with the Niners and Dancing with the Stars, and about his legendary offseason workouts. He said, "I wanted to make the city of San Francisco proud, the Niners organization proud, the fans that paid hard-earned money happy to see me do my best, my hometown, and everyone from Missippi Valley State (his alma mater) proud.
Just a class act!
Side note, when they were talking about Randy Moss breaking his single season TD record, he dropped this great line. Carolla asked about the character of Moss. And brought up the example of Moss hitting a cop with his car when he was in Minnesota.
Rice's reply "But, it was just a meter-maid, right?"
CLASSIC LINE!
