That's right, the Board of Regents has decided to stick it to the students again. They approved ANOTHER tuiton hike ( and don' t forget that fee's are also going up, hey just don't have to be voted on publically so they are less obvious. Once again the students and education have been put last, shame on you BOR and OSU.

OSU regents approve tuition hike

Oklahoma State University regents today approved a 9.9 percent increase in tuition and mandatory fees for undergraduate students in Stillwater and Tulsa, along with increases at other universities and colleges they govern.

The regents met at OSU-Oklahoma City. State Regents for Higher Education have final approval over tuition and fee rates and will meet on Thursday.

Tuition and fees would go up about $560 next academic year for in-state undergrads taking 30 credit hours at OSU's Stillwater and Tulsa campuses, for a total cost of $6,201. OSU raised tuition and fees 9.9 percent last year.

State colleges and universities got similar state funding for the fiscal year starting July 1 as they did for fiscal 2008. But costs have risen for gasoline, utilities and mandatory retirement benefits.

Some of the OSU increase will go to boost faculty pay by an average 4 percent, and staff salaries by an average 3 percent on the Tulsa and Stillwater campuses. Student aid also will increase 11.5 percent to $49.4 million.

ELSEWHERE

For other campuses under OSU Regents oversight, here are increases, in percentage and dollar amount, for tuition and fees for state resident undergraduates starting in the fall. In most cases, tuition and fees also would increase for out-of-state students and those who are enrolled in graduate programs.

• OSU-Okmulgee: Up 6.5 percent or $225 for 30 hours

• OSU-Oklahoma City: Up 7.7 percent or $210 for 30 hours

• OSU Center for Health Sciences: Up 4.7 percent or $193 annually

• OSU Center for Veterinary Health Sciences: Up 8.9 percent or $1,166 annually

• Connors State College: Up 9.2 or $219 for 30 hours

• Langston University, main campus: Up 6.4 percent or $231 for 30 hours

• Langston-Tulsa: Up 7.4 or $259 for 30 hours

• Langston-Oklahoma City: No increase

• Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College: Up 6.8 percent or $156 for 30 hours

• Oklahoma Panhandle State University, up 11.3 percent or $427 for 30 hours.

BOX

University of Oklahoma Regents meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Ardmore to consider a 9.9 percent increase in tuition and mandatory fees for in-state undergraduates. That will add about $586 to a full-time student's bill.

Ouch! Glad I got my two all graduated!

Still, OSU is an excellent bargain for higher education. I brag to people out here all the time about what great class sizes and personal attention my kids got, and for such a great price.

Still $170 an hour less than what I'm paying for my son's education. :(

This is inaccurate. I assure you 4.7% of tuition is much, much more than $193.

You are so right. My dream was for my daughters to go to OSU. That didn't happen, for the right reasons.

I look at these prices, and all I can say is "Wow, what a bargain"

Even in a public U. setting.

I had more money to blow my jr/sr in college than I do now. I worked 20 hours a week in the Internal Audit Department, best paying job on campus. I got $100 a month from Army ROTC and I was treasure for my fratnerity which was another $100. My folks my tuition and room & board and gasoline was $.20 a gallon:music-smiley-005:

I didn't. I only earned $1.65/hr. BUT, I didn't have to report (or share) my tips!

I say let's play football at Stillwater H.S. Stadium and spend TBP's gazillions to keep tuitions affordable.

Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?

i think they are only referring to the graduate programs at OSU-CHS, not the medical school when they list this tuition figure.

and...the faculty and staff are getting raises, so at least *some* of the increased tuition is going to a good cause. ME!!! :action-smiley-033:
