Per ESPN...then again, ESPN's been wrong before, but that would be a huge hire for the Hogs...

CBS Sportsline is reporting it as he has resigned and the Falcons have acknowledged it.

Did anyone catch the piece where the writer for the Atlanta Constitution went off on Petrino. Don't believe that he likes him nor has he ever liked him.
Basically said it was a bad hire from the very get-go and that he said on the day Petrino was hired that he was not long in the NFL. Then he went on to slam the Falcons ownership and management.
Whew!

Petrino is a carpet bagger and make Nick Saben look like a choir boy. Petrino cannot be trusted. What quality recruit would trust anything that comes out of his mouth?

I don't blame him. He signs on to coach the Falcons, and then all hell breaks loose with Vick....they go into a tailspin and really suck.
It pisses me off that arky got him. They come out smelling like a rose, and likely keep all their recruits....and we wanted Curtis really bad.

And, as of 10:30 tonight, it's official...watched the presser, and he seemed happy with it...probably moreso that he's out of Atlanta than the fact that he's in Arkansas...he got put in a bad situation at Atlanta...I think he's a great hire for Arkansas....

Good hire for them in the short term. I think he will be able to win there but assuming he does start winning he will be gone at the first good chance he can find.
I do think this can pretty much wipe Curtis off our board. Which sucks.

It seems that NO ONE is being very kind to Petrino:
ESPN.com's Pat Forde wrote: "In the coming days and weeks, the disingenuous drifter will say what Arkansas fans want to hear.
"He'll look at them with blank shark eyes and tell them, in a monotone voice, how excited he is to be the coach of the Razorbacks. He will tell them how impressed he is by the tradition and the fan base. ... It will be a trumped-up stump speech, as sincere as a politician's pledge to cut taxes. It will simply be the latest pack of lies in a career full of them.... The disingenuous drifter doesn't love you or any other fan base. He doesn't love any school or any NFL franchise. He loves himself, his playbook and his bank account.
Wait...is that talking about Les Miles? :D
