Through the last eight football seasons (dating back to the 2000 year), OSU is 48-48 overall. While that is not where I hope our program is over the next 8 years, it certainly is a vast improvement over the dozen or so years prior to 2000.
What we’ve accomplished the last eight seasons:
• Wins over five Nationally ranked Top-25 teams
- #3 Oklahoma (2002)
- #4 Oklahoma (2001)
- #13 Texas Tech (2005)
- #20 Nebraska (2006)
- #22 Kansas State (2003)
• Wins over two Big-12 Champions
- Kansas State (2003)
- Oklahoma (2002)
• Wins over three Big-12 North Champions
- Nebraska (2006)
- Colorado (2004)
- Kansas State (2003)
• Five Bowl appearances (the most ever in a six year span).
- Insight Bowl (2007) vs Indiana
- Independence Bowl (2006) vs Alabama
- Alamo Bowl (2004) vs Ohio State
- Cotton Bowl (2003 season) vs Mississippi
- Houston Bowl (2002) vs Southern Mississippi.
• Seven wins over traditional football powers
- Nebraska (2007/2006/2002)
- Oklahoma (2002/2001)
- Alabama (2006)
- UCLA (2004)
• Four wins over regional rivals.
- Oklahoma (2002, 2001)
- Tulsa (2004, 2000)
Again, this is not by any means where we want to be in the end. Fact is many schools in the Country (as well as our state) have more to boast about in this time frame. But, many schools in the Country (as well as our state) have much less to boast about in this time frame. As far as where we are today, our Cowboy football program certainly appears to be making progress towards our ultimate goal of competing for Championships.
