COLUMBUS, Ohio — Oklahoma State is going to the NCAA Tournament for a record 62nd straight season and Kevin Tway is a regional champion as a freshman.

The Cowboys carded a 297 in the final round at the NCAA Central Regional on Saturday to finish second.

"It was very good to see the team handle the pressure of qualifying as well as the tough conditions out there," OSU head coach Mike McGraw said.

OSU finished with a 37-over total of 889 to come in 10 shots behind Wake Forest.

The Cowboys entered the final 18 holes tied for sixth, but fired the low round of the day, coming in as the only team among the 27 in the field to break 300.

Tway, an Edmond North graduate, became the third OSU player to win a tournament this season, joining Trent Leon and Rickie Fowler. The win also marked the sixth time a Cowboy has won a regional title.

The NCAA championships are May 28-31 at Purdue.

Sooners fail to qualify: The Oklahoma men's squad closed its season with a 13th-place finish at the NCAA West Regional in Bremerton, Wash.

The Sooners fired a final-round 297, narrowly missing an NCAA Tournament berth by four strokes.

Phillip Bryan and Ben Blundell carded rounds of 73 to pace OU in the final round. Bryan capped off his collegiate career with a 23rd-place showing.

WOW ... are the teams in the East Regional that good, or was the course that easy?

The fairways were concrete and the greens were soft. ;)

No, it appears they tried to make the course more difficult, but failed in their attempt. They got a lot of rain on the course. The Council Fire Golf Club course is 6,961 yards.

To improve difficulty, they’ll lengthen the rough, shave the greens as the NCAA desires and coordinate with the USGA to determine hole locations. The course will also play as a par-71 with No. 18 switching from a par-5 to a par-4.

Once you get past the windmill, the clown's mouth is the only real obstacle. The biggest challenge is overcoming the noise of the kids at the go-kart track.
