Private donor to give away bowl tickets to OSU students

An anonymous donor is providing Oklahoma State students the opportunity to attend the Insight Bowl on Dec. 31 in Tempe, Ariz.

Students who buy a ticket will receive a second free to watch OSU play Indiana, OSU director of marketing Kyle Wray said Friday.

Tickets are $55 and will be available at the Boone Pickens Stadium south box office beginning Monday. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

OSU was allocated 10,500 tickets for the game. Wray said the school has sold around 4,000 of its allotment.

Now if a donor were willing to charter several private jets for the students, it would be a different story. I'm a grad student in the OSU system, and the ticket cost isn't keeping my wife and I (both OSU-Stillwater grads) away from the game. It's the airfare ($250 + tax a way was the cheapest I could find) or the prospect of going to the game, then immediately hopping into the family car for a fun 1000 mile trip back to Oklahoma so she could make it back to work on the 2nd. Buy 1 get one free tickets, is a nice gesture, but I don't know if it will help student attendance.

I agree with you on that one...I went last year and really enjoyed it(and I didn't get the free donor tickets!), but just can't afford it this year...even a chartered bus would've made a lot of people able to go. oh well, guess there's always tv. lol
