After the restaurant thread, I thought we could use a recipe thread.
This probably wont get the same response as the other, but if you have an old family recipe you don't mind sharing, a new recipe you found, or maybe a great BBQ tip, post it so the rest of us can enjoy!
I have a few for later, but don't be shy, if you cook, let's hear it.
The is only one rule, no criticizing recipes!

I just thought of one that is easy:
Cottage Cheese Salad
1 Pint Cottage Cheese
1 Tomato diced in small pieces
1/2 onion diced
Salt & Pepper
Folks this is a staple and a classic in my family.

I make pork chops and spanish rice.
I turn the oven on 200ish and put some boneless pork chops in a pyrex. Object is to slowly cook the pork chops without making them chewy like they can get if you pan fry. You also don't want them completely done yet as you will see. You can also grill them which is even better. Make sure you flip them a couple times in the oven to get them even.
Then just make a box of spanish rice. I don't usually use a can of tomatoes like it calls for, I use a can of tomato sauce and then dump in a little chunky pace. You may want to leave it a little extra juicy so the chops soak some in.
When the rice is done, dump it over your pork chops in the pyrex. Lift up your chops so a little gets underneath. Throw a layer or shredded cheddar on top, put foil over it, and let it cook about 10-15 mins at 350.
Spanish Rice
Boneless Pork Chops
Tomato Sauce
Picante
Shredded Cheddar
Takes about 30 mins total if your chops are thawed.

I don't know if this counts for anything but when you fry fish -- add fresh coffee grounds (1/4 cup or so) to your mixture. You won't taste the coffee and it absorbs the fish taste. In other words when I fry fish, I wet the fish and lay it in a mixture of flour, cornmeal and coffee grounds (both sides) and then drop it in the skillet of hot grease. Learned that from a friend of mine.

Simple marinade (works best for beef)
Worcestershire Sauce
Lawry's Seasoned Salt
It's cheap and just as good as many of the bottled marinades in the store.

Sometimes she uses the shredded hashbrowns, which is closer to Cracker Barrel's. This is a little more creamier than theirs.

Milk is excellent for getting rid of the fish taste, especially catfish. Soak your fillets for a few hours in a zip-loc; absolutely no fish taste.

I'm not much of a cook, so I like this recipe:
American Stroganoff
1 lb ground beef
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can milk
3 T Worchestershire sauce
1 T ketsup
1 T soy sauce
(I don't add any salt or pepper, but some who are used to more salt might.)
Brown ground beef then add all the other ingredients and simmer until heated all the way thru. Serve with rice and more soy sauce.

I posted this recipe on a similar thread a few years ago. Several said they would try it. These are delicious, medium to hot, and even better a few days later warmed up. This is the strangest mixture of spices you can imagine but they work well togather in this recipe. Serve these at a party and you will get a lot of compliments.
MOROCCAN CHICKEN DRUMETTES

1 CUP DATES (ROUGHLY CHOPPED)
1 BUNCH CILANTRO (ROUGHLY CHOPPED)
2 TBS. GROUND CINNAMON
4 TBS. GROUND CUMIN
1.5 CUPS HONEY

1 CUP LEMON JUICE
MIX WELL AND ADD: 5 LBS. CHICKEN WING DRUMETTES (I'VE USED BOTH MEATY PARTS OF THE WINGS AND THAT WORKS JUST AS WILL).
MIX AGAIN AND REFRIGERATE FOR AT LEAST 5 HOURS OR OVERNIGHT.
PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES F.
DIVIDE CONTENTS BETWEEN TWO LARGE BAKING PANS SO THE CHICKEN WINGS ARE A SINGLE LAYER DEEP.
BAKE FOR 45 TO 50 MINUTES, ROTATING THE PAN HALF WAY THOUGH THE BAKING.
GARNISH WITH CILANTRO SPRIGS AND LIME WEDGE AND SERVE HOT.
P.S. I served these once to a young couple that owns a resturant and they do catering. They added these to their catering memu.

I make, and keep in the freezer for a quick snack when people come over, what I call:
Snack N Shi_
Buy a loaf each of the miniature Pepperridge farms Rye and Pumpernickel Bread.
Buy a 1 lb. block of Velveeta cheese
Buy 1 lb of mild sausage
Buy 1 lb of Hot sausage
Brown sausage and drain. Add Velveeta cheese (cubed) and melt into the sausage. Mix completely.
Spoon the mixture on to individual slices of the two different kinds of bread (about a 1/4 " to 1/2" thick). Set this aside and let it "set-up" (harden). About 12 to 15 minutes usually.
Take quart zip-lock bags and put about 8 or 10 or 12 of them to a bag and throw them in the freezer.
When guest come over pull a bag out and put the breads on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 15 to 20 minutes. Watch carefully and when the bread starts to "toast" pull them out and you have nice little snacks to serve guest.
Other alternatives: If you like hot....buy the Jalapeno Velveeta Cheese and use two lbs of Hot sausage.
If you don't like hot use two lbs of mild sausage.

I make a good goulash that takes about 20 mins.
boil macaroni (this last time I used whole wheat penne and you couldn't tell diff in taste)
chop an onion; fry it
as it is almost done, add pound of ground beef; fry it
add some garlic and chili powder (not a ton) to meat
I actually use dehydrated minced garlic and chili seasoning
add can tomato sauce
add pasta; let simmer 10-15 mins
season to taste (I use lowry's and pepper)
I have also been known to add frozen corn (about a 1/2 cup) while the onions are frying
If you use 93-96% lean ground and whole wheat pasta, its a very nutritious and low fat meal with lots of taste.

Hummus:
2 cans Garbanzo beans
1/4 cup Tahini Sauce (Ground Sesame/ oil)
1 Juice from lemon
3 Garlic pieces
Directions:
In a blender, and one can drained garbanzo beans and one can undrained bean. Add tahini sauce and blend. After beans are well blended add lemon and garlic, blend. You want the hummus to be very thick, but liquid enough that you don't have to manually stir it while it blends. Add liquid from the beans or more lemon juice if needed. Pour into a pan or bowl and drizzle the top with extra virgin olive oil. (do not mix the oil in!) Add cracked pepper and serve.

What I made last night:
2 large boneless chicken breasts
1 package boil-in-bag whole wheat rice
1 quart 98% fat-free chicken broth
1/2 cup frozen peas
1/2 cup frozen corn
I put the chicken in a pyrex in oven on warm when i got home from work. Was in there about an hour and was almost cooked thru.
Boil the rice in chicken broth. Don't throw away the broth.
Cut up the chicken breasts into cubes. Put them in skillet; dump in rice. Do a quick sear (chicken middles should be done already).
As chicken and rice mixing, boil corn and peas in broth for about a minute; don't overdo.
Put veges in chicken/rice mix.
Should be just a little broth left; thicken in with just a little corn starch and add to mixture.
This gives a very hearty, colorful, very flavorful, and very low fat country home-made chicken and rice. If you like you can add any other veges; red peppers and or carrots would add some great color.
You could pan fry the chicken to save a bunch of time. I like to slow cook in oven to avoid chewiness. If you pan fry, cube the meat before you cook it.
