Avatars and Blue Guitar Picks

I'm having no luck in finding where to load an avatar. I loaded a picture, and it shows in my posts, but when I look at the member list, it doesn't appear there.


Just curious, but why do some members have blue guitar picks? Does it signify whether they are online or not?

The interface you are seeing now isn't the final interface. I would hold any questions like this until the system is switched over to the final look it will have. Most likely these problems are already fixed over there.

But if I don't ask the question, then someone else will, and their post count will increase and mine will stay in the single digits. I have to build that post count up...ha ha.

I am still trying to learn the ins & outs of this as well.
Looks to me like the blue pick means they are off line.
But that was with a very weak cross reference of one poster.

Have you gone to UserCP to load your avatar?

I've gone to CP and there is no AVATAR selection on the list at all. It just has:

Edit Sig
Edit Email
Edit Profile
Edit Options
Edit Profile Picture

Okay, that is weird.
Maybe it has something to do with the current interface, or some option setting that needs to be changed. I dont know.

I checked, and I can change it for you.


So, anyone who wants their avatar changed, and cant do it, send me a PM with a link to the image, and I will set it for you as quick as I can.

Jennifer and BBB, I'm seeing your avatars. Is that because I'm able to get the OSS2 version of the site?

The avatars are showing for me and I am not in the OSS2 version. Wish I was though :(

Its not the issue of seeing the avatar, its the issue of users being able to modify theirs. For some reason, when they go to USERCP, the link to modify their avatar isnt there.

I have been able to modify a few avatars for folks already though.

Im sure it is just a setting that isnt fixed just yet.

Just one of the bugs we are going to have to work though. It will get there though.

Hey there,

You should be able to upload your own avatar now.

Click on the User CP tab at top.
On left side of screen, choose Edit Avatar.
From there, you should be able to put in a URL to a picture or upload one from your PC. Please try it out and let us know if it works.

EDIT: the Edit Avatar option did show up in my User CP -- although BBB had already added it for me, so I didn't test it.

One thing Andy, fyi... when you use the upload, it does seem to limit it to 80x80. I was in goofing with it and made mine shrink (how embarassing for a guy!). I had to pester BBB again to help!

I have noticed that if I step away from the computer for what seems a short period of time and come back I have to re-log in. Any way of increasing that aspect of the board?
