Or as some of us call it, Brooke White's farewell tour.

Well since this is a broadway type of night on Idol, yep the curtain sure looks to fall on Brooke White, but here's my take of the show......

Again,I think the Idols need to pick songs that are bigger hits, thus more know = more votes, so with that where was "Phantom of the Opera" "Don't cry for me Argentina",etc... Oh well, with the show.....

Started off with Shyesha, and while I'm not a big Shyesha fan,as I think she thinks she's better then she is,she did well tonight doing " One rock and roll too many". She did the song well, looked the part, and well like many other Idol alums (Fantasia,Clay Aiken,Diana Degarmo,etc...) she might just have some work on Broadway. One of her better performances.

Next up we break out the stool, and watch yet another similar performance by Jason Castro. He attempted to do "Memory" from "Cats",and while it was from "Cats", I'm sure dogs are howling somewhere. It was boring, average at best, and well I hated to see him ruin a beautiful song, but he did. He needs to be on the phone sending flowers to Brooke White, thanking her for allowing him to get by this week.

Now we have Brooke White, and I'm a Brooke fan, but if she survives this week, she must know Oral Roberts, cause she got a miracle from somewhere. Her song "You must love me" wasn't bad at all, actually pretty good, but when she started, stopped and started over, well that was the cardinal sin that will do her in. This was also the second time this season she's done that. So the starting, stopping, starting again, will put a stop to Brooke White's Idol dreams. Jason Castro thanks you Brooke.

Then come the heartthrob of all the 11yr old girls, the always overhyped David Arculta. He's good, but I'm just tired of his same ol stuff, week after week, while the judges try to force him down our throats. Again, he was good, just not as good as they want us to believe, and certainly not good enough to be a big CD seller.

Carly takes the stage next and does "Superstar",and she did it well. Moved with it,made it fun, with some life, and gave us one of the better performances of the night. Also note that this is her second straight week of covering up the tattoos on performace nights. Trust me,it helps with the older voters who don't care to see em.

Wrapping up the night is David Cook, doing "The music of the night" from "Phantom of the opera". Mr. Cook shows us his broadway side, and that he can sing it well. A completly different side of David then we have been seeing. It was good, worked well, and I liked it being different. That said next week I hope we get the rocker david back.

Bottom 3 are Brooke White,Shyesha, and Jason Castro.

Going Home is Brooke White.

After voting for Brooke numerous times, here's my take on the night.

First of all, I'm wondering if the singers didn't have all of Andrew Lloyd Webber's songs to choose from because the selections were extremely odd.

Syesha did a jazzed up version of "One Rock & Roll Too Many" to the delight of the band director, the audience and Simon. I'm afraid Simon wasn't listening to Syesha but instead studying her moves and hips. He had a particularly devilish grin when evaluating her performance. My pick for Syesha would have been "As If We Never Say Goodbye" sung by Barbra Streisand from Sunset Boulevard.

I knew this would be one of the worst performances by Jason "dregs" Castro. This genre of music just doesn't fit in with whatever style of singer he is. I just didn't know Brooke was going to screw up again and let him off the hook. Castro picked "Memory" from Cats and reminded us all again of a bathroom break -- sitting on a stool and crap. He didn't understand who sang the song or what the song meant from "Cats". Unbelievable... especially if he is safe this week.

Brooke White then followed and she forgot the lyrics to "You Must Love Me" from Evita and previously made popular by Madonna. Major, major boo boo. Brooke started over but by then she was nervous and you could tell she was concentrating more on the words than the emotion of the song. It is a vulerable song and Brooke looked the part. It's just how many voters are going to vote for Brooke over Jason. I disagree with Paula on trying to continue. Brooke had no idea how to continue. It was best for her to start over from the beginning. Much easier to remember the first note than the eighth. My pick for Brooke would have been "I Don't Know How To Love Him" from Jesus Christ Superstar. I think she could have made Simon cry with that song.

Next, David Archuleta sang "Think of Me" from Phantom of the Opera which was another odd selection since it is sung by a female lead. It was good but anything after Brooke's performance would have sounded good as long as he didn't forget the words.

Carly Smithson sang " Jesus Christ Superstar" and though it was one of the better performances I wasn't too crazy about the arrangement. I didn't particularly like the refrain being sung by the backup singers and she did shout more than sing. Not one of my favorite performances of hers.

David Cook then sang a very good rendition of "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera. It was very controlled and very good. Although Simon didn't quite like it compared to what David has previously done it showed Cook as a singer not just a pop or rock star.

Bottom three:

Syesha - she has the worst fan base and she sang first
Jason - he needs to go
Brooke - she has to go

Brooke, even though we voted for you, I think you are gone.

Agree with most of what you guys have posted. Here's my projected order of finish.

6. Brooke White: I like Brooke, but she needed a big performance last night. Didn't happen.

5. Jason Castro: He owes Brooke a huge bouquet of flowers.

4. Syesha Mercado: Good performance last night, but I think we saw her best. It won't get better next week.

3. Carly Smithson: I really like Carly, but she won't top the two Davids.

2. David Cook: David C. is my favorite by far. He's got talent oozing from his pores. The guy has the most "star-power" of the bunch.

And your next American Idol is. . . . .

1. David Archuleta: :vomit-smiley-001: I'm not a fan of David A., but I will admit that he's gradually learning how be a star. He's good, but is probably the third best performer of this group at best. The lesson out of all of this: never underestimate the voting power of speed-texting tweenage girls.

I would have to say Brooke, Sayeesha and Jason on the hotseat tonight but I almost see it being Jason's time...I don't know but he uses the stool too much (Now that didn't sound right) and gets to be annoying...So I'll think outside the box and say Jason goes home tonight...

To win it all I hope David Cook wins but Archuleta with the teeny vote will win out and Cook will have the bigger career...It almost seems like you need to lose Idol to get a career going...

It really is a popularity contest and David A. (unless he screws up again) is going to win it based on the teenage market. But David Cook is the best in the group. Did I hear that his rendition of Billy Jean is No. 1 on downloads? I thought I read or saw that.

Unbelievable! Carly Smithson goes home.

I thought Brooke might get the sympathy votes but I never thought Jason would be safe and not in the bottom two.

Yep,I gotta admit, I almost let out a "Holy S**t",when he told Brooke she was safe, and then also let Jason Dreds go to safety. Wow,what a twist for the night. Up next week is Neil Diamond!

Interesting... I would have thought the worst was Jason.

It's all relative. Remember that the people that get a kick out of throwing off the vote are the same ones that have propelled 'rickrolling' into fame and created words like 'pwned'. They're uber-geeks that wish to inflict their geekiness on everyone else.

The first I'd heard of VotefortheWorst was when they were keeping Chris Sligh in the hunt a couple of years back. Then it was Sanjaya and on and on. They dearly wish to throw off the normal voting results, and they succeed to some level.

I am really glad that Carly is gone. Now she can have that growth on her right arm and shoulder looked at.

I agree that Carly wasn't the best but she did not deserve to go home this time...She was probably the 3rd best behind the 2 David's...

Ok, so as normal we tivo and watch the shows back to back.

Syesha - nice but not really all that. At least she wasn't singing a Mariah, Whitney, or Celine song.

Jason - I REALLY like the departure for him, he just didn't sing it very well. Could have been so much more.

Brooke - ok, forget she restarted (for the 2nd time this season); she just sounded bad.

Twinkie David - I just plain didn't like it and thought he sang it poorly.

Carly - I thought it was great.

Rocker David - Didn't like it. If he had not have hit that ONE note 3/4 of the way thru, I don't think the judges would have, either.

So my bottom 3 was Syesha, Brooke and Rocker David.

I guessed the fans bottom 3 would have been Syesha, Brooke and Jason.

As there was no bvottom 3, the bottom 2 were Syesha and Carly with Carly going home. Was completely shocked.

Looking back at it, I honestly think that the younger people who do NOT know JCSS may have been turned off my her singing a rock song about Jesus. IMO it is a killer musical and the title song is amazing, but lets be for real, how many under 21 year olds even knew there was a Jesus musical? I thought she looked and sounded great and it was a shame for her to go home.

HOWEVER, lets be honest, she wasn't going to win the thing anyway, so why not go home now and get started on an album deal as opposed to in 2 or 3 weeks?

I see no way on earth that the finals isn't David v David. They both have a week that sucks and are safe. Rocker David has been shaky for several weeks now and Twinkie David is starting to put me to sleep (if the constant screaming girl chorus didn't keep me awake). This is a done deal. I can see either of them coming out on top, because there is a big older and rocker base that watch. I still don't think Rocker David is better than Chris D, tho.

I'm not sure what you have against David Cook but he IS the best of the group. If you think Cook's success is going to take anything away from Chris Daughtry, I don't see it. I don't even know why it is an issue. You're right, though, it looks like a David vs David showdown is inevitable. David A. is the sentimental favorite with a fair voice and David Cook is best singer/performer in the group.

Oh, I have to disagree about Carly. Carly could have made it to the finals and if she had matched up against David A. she would have won it by a mile. The girl can sing. But I thought she shouted much of "Jesus Christ Superstar" and something about the chorus with the backup singers just wasn't right.

Next week, Neil Diamond. I can see Jason sitting on a stool with his guitar singing "Song Sung Blue". Blech!!!

I got nothing against Rocker David, he just hasn't been that good lately. I don't particularly like Chris D. but David isn't as good as him. Pretty simple.

So... if Rocker David IS the best of the group, then how could you have had him losing to carly and Twinkie David? You seem to be telling 2 stories there.... is Rocker David the best or is Carly the best?

David Cook is the best. My point was Carly or David Cook will blow away David A. IF it is based on singing talent because both Carly and David C. have the strongest and best voices. I was just supposing that if somehow Carly and David A. were left (freakish things have happened before) that Carly would easily win.

In my opinion (and I have played music nearly all my life) David Cook is markedly more talented than Chris Daughtry. He may sing similarly, but his sense of arrangement, his dynamic, his ability to play guitar (rather well for a front man) are all distinguished from Daughtry.

If nothing else, his vibrato is less lamb-like and steely. I am actually excited about what David Cook will do after this show--as much so as I have been since Carrie Underwood was on.

Funny thing is I couldn't stand the guy when he first came on, but he has slowly won me over week-by-week and I think he's an incredible musician that will hang around for a long time in the industry. If his stuff as of late hasn't been up to snuff, just remember you've seen show tunes and Mariah Carey songs, for heaven's sakes. That's WAY out of the comfort zone for a rocker. I think he's done admirably well.

This show has nothing to do with singing talent. It is just a popularity contest.
