It's starting to sound more and more like Fedora's gone...he's in Mississippi today, as reported by this site:
http://hattiesburgamerican.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071207/NEWS01/71207006
University of Southern Mississippi Athletic Director Richard Giannini and Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Larry Fedora arrived at Hessler Noble Field in Laurel at 11 a.m. today
Fedora is considered a favorite in the running for head coach at Southern Miss.
A flight left for Stillwater, Okla., earlier this morning, and later arrived with Giannini and Fedora.
Fedora is in his second season as the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State, the same position Bower held before he took over as the head coach at Southern Miss.
The 16-year collegiate coaching veteran came to Oklahoma State after three seasons at the University of Florida, where he served as run game coordinator in 2002, perimeter game coordinator in 2003 and offensive coordinator in 2004.

It's certainly looking like a good possibility that he's moving on to greener pastures. I can't expect him to hold back and owe him a debt of gratitude for helping us establish a very potent offense in the time he's been here.
I think this scenario has been inevitable and the coaching staff has planned with it in mind. Gundy wants his position coaches to succeed and that means finding a HC job if you're a coordinator here. We have guys in place to step up and assume his spot and that means there will be very little change in the way our offense is run when Larry Fedora takes the next step in his career.
I haven't looked forward to it, but I have faith in our remaining offensive staff to keep up the good work. I say that if we keep Brewer, Wickline, Meachem and Luper that there is no reason to fear a thing. We are still in very good hands.

Bet your right.
Dang... good luck Larry. I hope Gundy can bring in another top flight Offensive guy. Do you think we'll promote from within or will we look elsewhere for a replacement OC??
I don't think anyone can claim to be surprised. He deserves his own program--he's a talented guy and is probably ready for the next step. I wish him well.

I guess I owe it to myself to do a not-so-fast....Football Rumor Mill is reporting that this is just a second interview, and that the two finalists are Fedora and OU's Kevin Wilson...so, maybe it's not completely over....

Starting to look like I may have to eat crow on this. But, as long as I'm having crow, I might as well have 2 servings.
WON'T HAPPEN....at Southern Miss

well if he does go... then he certainly has proven that he can coach and has a system that can attract fans and tv ratings.... also proven that his system can succeed (or at least some success) against top notch defensive teams.
Good luck either way and hope he does what is best for him and his family

Well, if it comes down between those two I would think Fedora would be the obvious choice. I mean, Fedora was the mastermind behind the Worlds Most Explosive Offense...

If Fedora does get hired, maybe they should send the marketing guy who came up with that wonderful slogan with him as part of the deal.

From the sounds of it he's taken the job. I wish him the best. This really shouldn't come as much of a suprise to anyone that he's gone. I don't think anyone on the staff is shocked and if things go the way I think they will the transition will be pretty seemless to the next OC. It's most likely going to be Brewer and Wickline as co-oc's with Brewer more than likely calling the plays. Our offensive staff has been stout the last few years and although it's going to be hard not having Fedora next year I really think the guys we have will be more than capable of continuing what he started.

#1. He stays - Goody for us!
#2. He leaves - and we never have to hear the stupid term "Gundora" again. Goody for us!
I think this is a win-win situation. ;)

I just hope he doesn't take Wickline with him. Wickline has done wonders with the OL and unfortunately he has been following Fedora from job to job...

That would suck if he does. Maybe with the $$$ Gundy can offer him, along with the OC title, he'll stick around.

As much as I like Brewer, doesn't he have his hands full coaching the WRs?

If true, I guess the good news is that Bower has agreed to stay on through their Bowl trip so Fedora should be able to remain in Stillwater and focus on our preparation for the Insight Bowl.

Hopefully we can stick with Gundy. Heaven forbid we end up referring to him as Gundewer, Gundickline, or the dreaded Gundewerickline.:D

So this means that we are yet again going to have a new offensive scheme to learn, which will yet again set the team back 3-5 years?

First things first...I hate to lose Fedora. However, at least I won't have to listen to my wife asking where the "sexy" coach is at the walk anymore...
Moving on...we have a lot of big recruits coming in this weekend. How do you guys feel this will impact current committs as well as the guys we are trying to sign. I would think that it would be best for everybody to get somebody named and in place as soon as possible. Thoughts?
Best of luck to Fedora. I hope he does well.

I guess I'm still not convinced that he is gone. AT least not yet! While I know the Fedora wants a HC job, I think he can wait and get a premo job somewhere. I'm not sure that SM is that job. From reports that I have heard, they don't have the money to pay a HC much more than Fedora is making here, let alone assistants. I would hate to see him go, his offense is just now clicking along and I think he would like to help OSU get to a BCS game. His stock would go sky high then.
Maybe wishful thinking but I'll wait until I hear it from him!
