Kelly given second shot at tryout

Ex-OU star to run again Wednesday.
Malcolm Kelly will get another chance to impress NFL scouts.
University of Oklahoma spokesman Kenny Mossman said Kelly will run the 40-yard dash again on Wednesday, presumably on AstroTurf, after running 4.68 and 4.75 last Wednesday.
After his workout, Kelly sounded off about the setup, particularly a perceived lack of loyalty to him by "certain people" on the OU football staff. He also criticized the OU training staff for misdiagnosing an injury that kept him out of the Fiesta Bowl.
Kelly was upset because he and OU strength coach Jerry Schmidt agreed he would run his 40s on the AstroTurf of the Mosier Center instead of the Field Turf of the Everest Center, on which every other OU football player has worked out for NFL scouts the last two years.
Sooners in previous classes had their pro day in the Mosier Center, but the event was moved because no NFL teams play on AstroTurf any longer and the Everest Center better simulates the surface at the NFL Scouting Combine, where nearly 300 players work every February.
Schmidt said the Mosier Center, adjacent to the Everest Center, was set up for Kelly to run, but NFL scouts requested that Kelly run on the Field Turf instead, and Kelly agreed.
Schmidt said NFL scouts will add from .10 to .15 seconds to any time Kelly runs on AstroTurf. Kelly could not be reached Sunday for comment.
During an interview on KTBB radio in Tyler, Texas, Kelly on Thursday apologized for his lack of tact in the aftermath of his disappointing workout last week, saying, "I should've went to the guy I was mad at rather than put it in the media like that. That was a mistake on my part."
He also acknowledged he wasn't "as prepared as I should've been," and he wanted "to make one thing clear: I'm not blaming anyone for the time that I ran."
He also said during the radio interview that he would "be a Sooner when they put me in my grave" and the incident is "not going to affect my allegiance to the program." (and to BRS&I).
