COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Two Texas A&M football players were arrested after an armed robbery investigation involving the home invasion of an apartment.

Yemi Babalola was charged with two aggravated robbery counts and one count of misdemeanor marijuana possession, according to a College Station police statement. Brandon Joiner was charged with three drug possession counts, one a felony.

Both men were in the Brazos County Jail in Bryan on Thursday.

According to the police statement, one resident suffered minor injuries in the home invasion Nov. 29 at the Callaway Villas Apartments. The investigation led to the search of the suspects' homes Wednesday, where drugs and other evidence were found, according to the statement.

Babalola started on the Texas A&M offensive line this season as a junior. Joiner is a freshman defensive end.

Texas A&M (7-5) plays Penn State (8-4) on Dec. 29 in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio.

What a shame it is the seemingly large proportion of the kids recruited to big-time university athletics turn out to be simply ignorant thugs. Here we have two guys, one of them a JUNIOR, that apparently believe that they can run amok through Bryan/College Station with impunity. I can sort of rationalize a freshman in this kind of trouble...fresh from high school with probably no good behavioral guidance from home...but a JUNIOR in a big-time athletic program should absolutely know better, expect better of himself and of those in the program with him, and should have had these behaviors hammered into him over the course of his tenure at A&M.

I find myself these days with very very little patience for anyone in our athletic programs - or in society in general - who believe they are accountable to no one for their behaviors and actions.

My rant for the day....there are better things to discuss, like....what's the good word today about the O-State Cowboys? :D
