I've never gotten into Salmon. The few times I tried it, I was younger, and I never liked the tecture and the "fishy" taste was too much. I found a recipe I like though and thought I'd share for those who like fish, but not the "fishy". To me, there needs to be a balance of that sea food flavor and other tastes.

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white wine
Garlic salt
Greek seasoning
Old Bay seasoning

Mix together sugar and wine. Marinate filets in mixture for 30 minutes to hour. Take out and rub in spices gently. Glaze with the mixture. I got cooking cedar planks. Cooked the Salmon on the planks at about 275 for 25-30 minutes. Cooking time will vary depending on how you like your salmon. I like mine more on the well done side.

Turned out really well. Served with roasted red potatoes and salad. Of course we had to have a glass of white wine with it too:)

So now I'm adding salmon to the menu. Any other recipes out there for Salmon that you can give me?

I'm with you--I know it's trendy, I know it's full of healthy Omega 3s, etc.

But it's oily and tastes fishy. I just don't like it.

We eat salmon once a week which makes me an expert on the topic.:)

Buy only "caught in the wild" salmon; farm-raised tastes different and isn't comparable to the wild. Walmart sells a one-pound package of frozen fillets (4 pieces/vac sealed) that are skinned w/dark(oily) layer removed; this cuts down on the "oily".

Marinate the fillets in OJ for about 20-30 minutes prior to cooking, but don't "cook 'em"!

One of our favs is with a Balsamic Glaze:

1/2 C balsamic vinegar
1/2 C dry white wine
2 T fresh lemon juice
2 T (packed) dark brown sugar

Combine ingredients in medium saucepan. High simmer/low boil until mixture is reduced to about 1/3 C; season w/S&P to taste. Drizzle over fillets.

Someone gave us a package of Spice Market "Key West Blend" that came with a recipe for grilled salmon. We like this one also; spice is available locally in Tulsa and from:

www.spicemarkettogo.com

Personally, I'm a lemon juice junkie when it comes to fish, so I always have some to use with any recipe.

Gotta say that these both sound delish--as delish as an oily, fishy fish can be, that is. ;)

I've always heard smoking it helps cut that fishy taste. Personally, anytime I've had smoked salmon I don't get that.
