We had a great time at the races last weekend. Here are some pics. Keith took my pic with the cup race pace car on Saturday. The races were a gret birthday present for Keith.

More pics. CaptMike I thought you would like to see Chrissy Wallace's truck the 03. She was awesome. Reminded me of her Uncle Rusty with her bump and runs (spun Hamlin out a few times). She hung in there with the rest of them.

BBB, my very first race was the Daytona 500 in February, 1971. I was amazed then how exciting they were. Richard Petty won that race. I have been to Texas several times, Kansas once, Martinsville several times, Pocono once, and our next races will be Bristol, Richmond...you get the picture. We live within driving distance of quite a few race tracks. I do know this much, I'm not using a walker at races anymore; I'll use my can as soon as they finish making it.

Ive only been to Texas so far. But, I will venture to more venues soon!

Not to get personal, but is the walker/cane a permanent thing now? I didnt realize you were having issues with walking. And, I noticed the walker in the photo but wasnt going to mention it unless you did.

I remember the major issues last year with the long hospital stay & intense surgery. Is this a result of that or something else? If thats too personal to ask, just tell me. I was just curious. I hope all is going well.

Unfortunately, the walker/cane will be a permanent thing. I have degeneration in my neck, which affects my nerves in my right arm, doing aquatic therapy for my back degeneration (a combination of the years of being a teacher who had to lift students from wheelchairs to the toilet or changing table and back to wheel chairs), my right hip that loves to lock up on me, the nerve causing numbness in my right leg making it difficult to walk or stand for any length of time without just falling down with no warning. The OT says that he estimates a 10% chance of regaining even 25% of my mobility back. I won't be able to teach, much less work again. I have gotten dizzy several times without warning and have fallen down the stairs, which just compounds the existing pain and damage. As long as I remember that I cannot do things like I used to do, the pain isn't too bad, but it is a constant pain. I hope this wasn't too much info than you were asking, but I haven't been saying anything on here because I was concentrating on keeping my promise to Russell with the updates.

You and Rhonda HAVE to go to the Martinsville races. It is an experience you will never forget. You can see the whole track at all times.

Im sorry to hear about all of that, I had no idea.

I knew about the stuff you went through last year, that sucked as well.

Hopefully, getting yourself into a good routine, and learning your limits and trying not to be a teeny bopper running around :), will get you where you can maintane the pain.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Dortha, I know you have been having problems and I appreciate your efforts to keep everyone updated on Aidan's condition; however, I don't want you to put yourself in any worse pain or problems for my sake. Aidan needs to be able to see his "grandma" sometime soon! :)

BBB, believe me, I am learning my limits the hard way but very quickly.

Russell, I made you a promise, and I will honor that. Anyway, that doesn't take too much time, so the sitting doing that isn't as painful. It's the standing to do dishes.

We plan on going to the races at Charlotte, NC too.

You guys will not believe how good Chrissy Wallace is racing the trucks. She may be Mike Wallace's daughter, but she drives like her Uncle Rusty!!! I am so looking forward to her getting a full time racing team next year. She will race six tracks this year. Yes, GEICO is one of her sponsor's...think her daddy had anything to do with that?

I appreciate that, Dortha. Let us know when you will be coming to Lowe's and we'll work out something before or after.

We will be at the Coca-Cola 600 and the Nationwide races, May 22 -25. We will leave on Thursday so we can go to the pole festivities, be at your house on Friday, and then back to Charlotte that night so we have a good start on the Saturday and Sunday night races!!!!
