Safety: We had a safety lunch for everyone on the jobsite last month for going 30 days without a recordable accident, and we are going to have another one on December 6, 2007 for going the last month (ending November 15, 2007) without any recordable accidents. Yesterday an electrician cut his hand while driving a stake in hard ground, so there will be no safety lunch in January.
Field Level: Metal stud framing is being installed at the Field level. Actual drywall will have to wait until we have the area dried in and conditions are right. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing work continues. Insulation on the under side of the plaza deck is ongoing. Masons are finishing up block walls.
Plaza Deck Slab: Waterproofing membrane is being put down in the south half of the stadium at sector two. Masons have completed the first three concession / bathroom structures. The fourth is partially complete, but waiting on overhead steel work to get done before it can progress any further. Frames for the roll up doors in the concessions are being installed. Electrical and mechanical work in the concessions continues.
Structural Steel and Pre-cast: Pre-cast erection of the lower bowl is done, and we are welding off the connections. Erection of the outboard structural steel on the north side has risen above the lower bowl, and continues to move from the north towards the center of the structure. The steel framing for the mezzanine and arena levels are connected to the south side steel.
Exterior Closure: The south tower brick masonry is up to the roof level. The block back-up wall for the second tower is to the mezzanine level. Frames have been set in place on the field side of the structural steel at the suites, upper club, and lower club levels. Insulation and framing for the soffit at the arena level is well under way. Support structure for window wall framing on the west face of the stadium is being installed.
Major Equipment Deliveries and Installation: The emergency generator has been delivered to the site and has been set in place. Twelve escalator sections have been delivered to the site and, Kone has started installing them in the south tower.
Upper Level Decks: Concrete pours on upper decks for the south half of the stadium are complete. The first deck pour on the North side steel (mezzanine level) will happen on November 29, 2007.
Overall Schedule: We are maintaining the projected schedule, and the project is currently 52% complete. The second shift has been temporarily discontinued. It worked well to get our plaza deck waterproofing ahead of the masonry, and dry in the basement, but temperatures at night have been too cold to consistently work at night. There are days we work late when it is beneficial.
Summary: The project is moving along smoothly with over 250 craft workers on site now. Our crew size should hold or increase slightly over the next six months as new trades arrive on site.
The entire project team is working well together to keep the job moving forward.
