Anyone driven to Lubbock before whether it was for a game or business? I may be headed that way in a week. Is it a longer drive than to Houston from Stillwater?

Well, you noticed I didn't ask if anyone drove down there for fun. ;)

Drove there for a horrible football game during the Simmons years. We went out by way of Wichita Falls and after feeling so sick about the game that we didn't want to stay (as planned) drove back via Amarillo. Let me say that may be the longest day in my life with nothing to see but sand and sagebrush for longer than I care.

It is shorter than the drive to Houston (also made this one) especially going by way of Wichita Falls (as long as you have a radar detector... hint, hint). Just be careful as johnie law is quite prevalant out in those parts.

Thanks for the advice! We may drive down for a golf tournament. Mapquest says it is a 6hr and 45 minute drive going through Amarillo and down. Uggh.

Hey OSUFan,

I've made that drive many times, as both of my parents grew up there. I still go from time to time to visit relatives and went to the last OSU fb game there. I prefer the route that osupsycho mentioned. Most of the way is 4 lane now and it's usually a pretty laid back pace. In any case, each way take a similar amount of time - around 7 hours sounds about right.

Seven hours to oblivion; there's not much lipstick you can put on that pig to make 'er "purty".
