So what did you say to hurt their little feelings"?

I said basicly that Boone owns the university and Holder, he is meddlesome, perhaps we should give him back the 165 mil, and say hey, "it's not you, it's us"

I also agreed with everything Gottlieb said, that holder is in over his head, and wouldn't be an AD at any other school in the country.

I asked why Holder would accept Sean's resignation, and still pay him; because Holder isn't lying is he?

I also started some Ron Paul threads and asked who everyone's favorite MLB team is....

Every university is owned by someone, generally not part of the administration. It's the nature of the beast.

One of the best AD's (for as much as I don't like the guy) was Frank Broyles. When he started off as AD he didn't know much more than Holder did but he learned. The thing that makes Holder so good is that he built the golf program from nothing (I'm not talking about the play on the course) to it's own little empire. The ability to raise the money he did and set up the golf program for years of financial success is quite incredible. Look around and there's just not a ton of programs (regardless of the sport) that have been so set up for long time future success like what Holder did for golf.

Now if you want to talk about the firing and hiring of coaches I really don't know who the heck would be qualified for that position unless you've previously been an AD. Even then before someone gave them their first AD job it's not like they would have been qualified either. What experience did Birdwell have with hiring for firing coaches? Sure he's been in the private business world and hired and fired folks but heck I've hired and fired folks to but that doesn't mean I know anything about doing it with coaches.

In my opinion if you've run the type of program that Holder did and made it as financially successful as he did then he's qualified in my book. Too many people are trying to hold the relationship with Boone against him and make false claims that he's not qualified. I just don't believe that to be the case. Did it play a role in him getting the job, no doubt it did but if you were giving someone 165 million dollars I can bet you'd want someone in there that you've seen do amazing things. Karsten Creek and Cowboy Golf are amazing things. Pretty much unprecendeted.

As far as the resignation goes I'm sure he was given the option to resign or be fired. He was going to get paid either way. If he's fired we still own him the money. I'm sure the "we reached a mutal agreement that it would be best if he resigned" is nothing more than them saying, "Hey Sean you're out of here. We are stuck paying you the rest of your contract, would you prefer we say you were fired or would you like to save some face and say we worked out an agreement and you resigned?" That kind of stuff happens all the time. People are fired but given the option to hand in a resignation because it looks better on a resume. Short of him doing something illegal on the job (which probably would have voided his contract) I see nothing wrong or even slightly odd about the way it played out.

First I think that banning people from message boards is retarded. Maybe spamming a lot or being racist or something I could get on board with a banning, but people that are true particpants should be free to say pretty much whatever they want.

Second, I don't disagree with much you said, except that Holder wouldn't be the AD anywhere else. For 165 million, he would be the AD at almost any school in the nation. Now without that, he would probably be limited to mid majors or less (certainly not a Big XII school).

Regardless, they are way too quick on the trigger over there. But the word on the sly is that they are a lot more careful of what they say over there because Greg Bartlett is emplyed by the University-with that said, if someones job were in jeopardy over what was said on a message board by someone other than than the employee (which I am not saying is what has ever happened over there, just an example) it would be crazy silly.

They are, and I understand why, Greg is a solid cat, and i respect his work, and I respect a handful of there mods and admins; I've even told them so.

They have a few T.Boone boot-lickers, which is weird, but I am OK with; I GET that.

In general, if I say something that offends you; you may ask WHY it offends you, before trying to kick a dissenting voice out of the sandbox.

and yes....:ousucksnana:

I'm not going to get down in the mud and sling it with other boards. I don't care enough about it all to get personal. I've had it done to me, and to my family members, and it's flat out retarded. Message board wars are for people who don't have a life.

OP has the right to run their board however they see fit to do so. I can definitely understand throwing a temporary ban out to someone that repeatedly walks all over the code of conduct set forth for the board, or who upsets the community enough to start causing problems. At the end of the day, the individual who owns the board has the right to run it as they see fit. They felt Lewis needed a vacation, so he was sent on one. End of story.

But let me add this to what my partner has said. You WILL NOT be censored or banned here for having an unpopular opinion. I will personally make sure of that. This IS NOT going to be that kind of board. If you avoid obscenity, threats and personal insults when you express your opinion, your opinion will be welcomed here. What good is a message board if everyone always has to agree?

(So if you're out there lurking and have something to say, say it! We won't bite.)

Lewis, I will give you a lot of credit.

As much crap as you like to dish, you have no issues taking it. And, any time (as a mod) I have asked you to cool it, you have.

Everyone knows you like to fish for responses. Sometimes you get bites. Sometimes you need to know when to reign it in, but Ive never felt the need to call for a banning......yet!

Heck, we went head to head once on the old board, but called a truce. And, you still owe me a beer.

As annoyed as some folks get with you, they would miss you if you were banned, er, resigned! ha ha

On that note I was going to ask, did the "Ineresting" thread from yesterday get deleted?

Yes, it did. After much deliberation, we concluded that some posts contained some pretty inflammatory but unprovable accusations and therefore violated our code of conduct. Rather than leave some of the responses that would now make no sense without context, we chose to remove the thread.

My apologies. It's a pretty sticky wicket we're in these days and we want to be careful.

And thank you for removing it. I had decided to go back and blank out my post but realized it would do no good since some had quoted me in their responses and it would be clearly read. I think that it is best to let all that talk just disapear and everyone move forward. I now regret posting it in the first place...
