Well Gottlieb needs to get some of his facts in place before he goes off on a tirade. He claims that Holder was a good golf coach but only because he a great course and a large benefactor. Only problem with that is he had neither of those when he started and he personally went out and made them both happen. That right there is the makings of a good AD. One of the only reasons TBP is helping the athletics so much is because Holder got him back into the fold in the first place. That ability right their is a major portion of an ADs job.

Gottlieb is making a fool of himself again and needs to keep quiet for awhile...

Right on Doug... I love the way that he's not afraid to speak his mind...

makes me proud.

He also just said that he is finished with OSU and will not be coming back to Stillwater anytime soon.

I like Doug, but he is handling this wrong.

On one hand he doesn't want to sound like a homer so he talks about OSU like any other school on the air.

But now, he is taking this too personal, and is sounding like an ass.

Maybe WE, rather than he, are "handling this wrong." I'm deeply disturbed by this day, and I certainly understand why he is.

I do not disagree with a single thing Doug has said. I also do not believe in the blind loyalty that some people are preaching on here. Our school is no different than any other, it is not perfect and can be wrong on many issues.

Im handling it like this: Optimistic

Whats done is done. Whether I think it was fair or not doesnt matter. My feelings will not change the situation.

My love for OSU isnt based on a coach or an AD.

So, I'm hoping we hire a great coach and are in contention for a National Title in short time.

I just listened. I have to say that I do not disagree with anything he just said. Rivals is ready to hang the guy.
SAD DAY!

You can't turn off your loyalty to OSU that easy. I don't buy it. We might not understand the reasons, or even agree with them, but we NEVER walk away from any part of our university. Not allowed!

I love Sean. I love Eddie.

tough day

Agree.

As Holder said in the Presser, the "cowboy ethic" says you "ride for the brand"

Holder would be the first to agree with you if higher ups thought someone else would do a better job.

good maybe we can hire Stanford's athletic director then!

They always are in contention for the Sears trophy, where have we been in Holder's two years?

Lewis, were you an above average golfer that got snubbed by Holder?, or have you just spent too many years in California? You sure have it out for the guy.

Stanford recruits better and deeper women's programs than anyone in the country, mainly due to their academic standing. They have the endowment to do so effectively. They focus on it. They are in the Silicon Valley, where I worked for many years, so I understand the culture fully.

If an OSU AD took that approach, he would be strung up, gutted and left for dead.

Neither FP...

Lewis is just a attention hound. Always has been. That's why most don't even answer him anymore...lol

First I think golf is not a sport, but regardless Holder ran one HELL of a golf program......

But, How do I have it for the guy?

I have covered sports as a writer for approximately 4 years, I lived next door to quite a few players on the b-ball team,

The guy is an athletic director in title only. Quite similar to what Doug said.

I would hate to read the rag you write for. Your lack of objectivity tops them all. I am sure the Daily Oklahoman could use you.

He also just said that he is finished with OSU and will not be coming back to Stillwater anytime soon.

I don't think he made that decision on his own. It was the Suttons who told him he wasn't welcome anymore

That has long since been resolved between the Suttons and Dougie G.

Agreed.

In fact, I don't know which makes me sadder today - the "resignation" of Sean or the fact that I am actually agreeing with Lewis on something :)

Gottlieb came off today sounding really bitter and unprofessional, probably the worst I've ever heard him. It really showed just how out of touch he's become with OSU basketball. He was backpeddling big time around 5:00, saying, "lets see who they hire" Doug, like most Sean supporters, have very short memories. He complains about the power Boone has yet forget sthat the only reason Sean got the job was because of the power of "Sutton U", who went on the Animal about 2004 and said Sean would be the next head coach, without ever talking to Birdwell! He wants to talk about the improvement at the end of the year, yet says nothing about the OU loss at home without their best player, the game Sean was totally outcoached.

Doug was totally pathetic today as it was obvious he was using the circumstance as a way to mend fences with "Sutton U."

I don't think Doug was trying to mend fences today. He had spoken to Sean earlier in the day and I think he knows a lot more about what actually went on between Sean and Holder and the resignation (which really seems like a firing by Holder). Plus Doug had already mended fences with the Suttons regarding some comments he made several years ago.

I really believe that Doug was hurting for a friend that really got screwed today simply because Holder holds a grudge against the Suttons.

I might watch, I haven't decided yet.

So you are going to punish the program and our athletes because of how you feel about Holder?

That doesn't seem like the Cowboy way.
