OSU confirms the two have set a date to discuss the future.

STILLWATER -- Oklahoma State basketball coach Sean Sutton and athletic director Mike Holder met Monday, according to OSU sports information director Kevin Klintworth, but nothing was immediately announced in regard to whether Sutton will return next season.

A follow-up meeting is planned, but Klintworth did not specify the date of the meeting.

Sutton's job status has been a topic of speculation during the course of this season. Holder has often declined to comment on the situation and did so again Monday. He has indicated that Sutton would be evaluated at the end of the season.

OSU's season ended with a first-round NIT loss March 18 at Southern Illinois. Sutton and Holder had not been able to find a mutual timetable to meet until Monday due to conflicting schedules. Sutton has been recruiting and Holder spent parts of two weeks watching OSU's women's team compete in the NCAA Tournament.

Sutton is 39-29 in two seasons as the Cowboy head coach with two first-round NIT defeats. Sutton has said his team was negatively impacted last season by the summertime defections of JamesOn Curry, who forfeited his final year of eligibility to enter the NBA Draft, and Kenny Cooper, who transferred to Louisiana Tech just before the start of his junior year. Their departures left OSU with four returning scholarship lettermen.

Sutton did not answer a call to his cell phone Monday. Sutton has three years remaining on a five-year contract.
