You guys certainly took Washington out behind the woodshed. Go pokes! I thought it was a really competitive series, though. Much better than the ACC-Big 10 Challenge.

Pac-10 had a slight "overall" edge, but Big XII won the marquee match-up. (I'm still having nightmares over that put-back.)

So, how do people feel about it in Big XII Country?

SFBruin is my friend, Adam, adopted member of the Verb family, UCLA grad and Poke fan. He even made a trip to Stillwater to see the sights, and got to go to a game in GIA. He thought it was great! (Although I could wish his first Cowboy basketball game could've been some other year than last year. He didn't get to see a victory...)

Welcome, Adam, and sorry about Texas...

P.S. SFBruin is going to try to track down BruinPatti and let her know about our move.

I was pretty pleased with the overall series...there were some really good games in it...I just wish OU would've played a little better against USC, but USC's shown in their last few games that their defense is really tough...

I think the Big XII had a good showing, though...

Hey topdaug I didn't get to see OU-usc. Is that OJ Mayo really as good as they say.

He got shut down in the first half, where I think we held him to 2 points...but he had a very good second half...he's definitely a good player, but sometimes he plays selfish (not sure if you watched the USC-Memphis game tonight, but I don't know if anyone besides him took a shot in the final minute)....but he's definitely good...Davon Jefferson is who killed OU, though...

It was a decent game, but was really physical and a defensive game...OU struggled pretty badly from the field, which didn't help...

I haven't reallyseen any B-ball this year. I caught the last few minutes of the OSU-Washington game and was shocked to see the score.

SFbruin:

What I have seen has definitely been good. The Pac 10 seems to be pretty strong top to bottom.

But of course it is still too early into the season to really tell a lot. Yes there will be some strong teams and some not so strong teams, but we will see. I am afraid the Pac 10 will have the same problem that we have in the Big 12 and that is that we end up beating each other up through conference play.

As far as a series I like it.

I loved the series, I just wish it would have been featured a little more. They didn't talk about it very much on ESPN or anything as being a seriously organized series, they kinda just treated it as a bunch of games between conferences that just happened to be a neat little project.

Oh well, I guess it's still the new kid on the block and everyone is more concerned with the Big 10/ACC Challenge. Is there some kind of contract between to the leagues that will keep it going for multiple years? I think it could develop into something pretty sweet with a little more pub.

It is currently on a 5 year contract. If it gains some popularity, I'm sure that will get extended.

Awesome! I'd like to see us get Oregon or Zona @ GIA, a trip to the Wooden Center would be sweet too!

One of the Washington papers wrote that there would be a return game in Seattle for next year's Challenge. So maybe the year after that we'll get another game in GIA.

I think one reason it seemed like the Series didn't get as much play on ESPN is that they only broadcasted the games on Big 12 home courts... Fox had the games on the Pac-10 courts. So that cut into the coverage a lot compared to the ACC/Big 10.

Anything that gets some of these power conference teams to play each other and not just schedule guarantee games is great for basketball. The games I saw were all pretty good (especially Saturday afternoon's!) :)

Oh, welcome SFBruin! We just span the country here on li'l ol' OSS (CA to NC)!!

He's a really good and athletic player. But he's no Beasley. And I'm not sure he makes the team considerably better. That's going to be USC's problem this year, I think. Lots of great individual players, but the sum of their parts doesn't match the talent potential.

I thought from what I heard he maybe a one trying to better his stats and draft selection. He sounds like he will play a year go pro.

Definitely. We refer to the Toejam basketball team as the mercenary squad over on our boards. I think Floyd is risking way too much by recruiting the one-and-dones.

Mercenary squad I like that. Floyd should try and get some players that will stay more than a year.
