Well I just got the schedule and it dosent look like we are going to have a lot of time having fun.
We are supposed to have dinner Tuesday at Aggies Big House. Anybody have any comments about this place??
I sure wish we could come down on Saturday for the spring game, that would be awesome. I'm not sure how much the K-State fans in the group would go for it.

Just get them drunk at the tailgate and convince them they are watching OSU vs. KSU.

Aggie's Big House is an ok place. It's where Stillwater Bay used to be and has a similar all-around menu (steaks, burgers, seafood, fajitas). It still has the nice bar that was installed when the Bay was there.

Thanks Andy, in my above post I should have said we are not going to have a lot of time to have fun. We are going through OSU's Beef Quality Assurance Lab and it looks like they are trying to cram a whole semester of stuff into 3 days.
Days start at 7:30 AM and we get done at 9:30 PM.
But, it will be good to get back to Stillwater. I haven't been in town since 94.
Thanks for the replies

WOW that is a long day of conference stuff. Do you have to go to all of it? I'd try to skip out on some of it!
Like Andy said, Aggie's is okay.

Yes, I will have to attend the whole day. This conference costs $1,200 per spot, so it probably wouldn't be very good to skip out. Some of our guests have been asking about strip clubs and going to the City or Tulsa. I'm thinking there is not going to be to much sleep involved on this trip.

Only one west of Wichita that I know of, and that would be a tar and feather type offense here in "Cow Town" as you put it.

We got family in cow town.
Besides the one in town, the next closest would be in Ponka City (Saddies) Enid has a couple and then you got OKC and TULSA. The worst part about here in town is I always run into someone I know. The worst part is when you realize that the Girl dancing is the same girl that played first base on the t-ball team you coached 15 years ago.

well I hope you do not get lost:
Is that growth natural?
• How did Stillwater get so big? Partial answer: it didn’t
Jon Kocan - NewsPress
Stillwater has been grabbing headlines due to U.S. Census Bureau estimates released Thursday showing the city topped the state in growth from 2000 to 2007 for all metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas.
But a portion of the credit for Stillwater’s “growth” is due to two successful challenges of the population estimate. Count Stillwater was a committee formed to promote a more accurate 2010 Census count. The committee initially focused on Stillwater’s student population and, following an investigation, proposed a challenge to Stillwater’s 2005 population estimate.
The Stillwater City Council approved the challenge in September 2006. The challenge was based on the Census Bureau’s 2000 population estimate that showed Stillwater’s growth to be .9 percent per year. City staff reviewed building permits, utility connections and certificates of occupancy and found Stillwater’s annual growth rate to be between 1.34 and 2.33 percent.
The challenge was successful and boosted Stillwater’s population estimate for July 1, 2005, nearly 5,000 people overnight from 40,906 to 45,674. The July 1, 2006, estimate was also challenged after coming in more than 850 people less than the year before and showing a decline. The successful challenge placed Stillwater at its current estimated population of 46,383.
The numbers touting Stillwater’s growth were reviewed with Deputy City Manager Dan Blankenship Friday, and showed a growth rate of 19 percent from 2000 to 2007. The annual growth rate from 2005 to 2006 was 1.6 percent.
The goal of Count Stillwater and city officials continues to be achieving a population estimate of 50,000 by 2010. That goal would designate Stillwater as a metropolitan statistical area, which has been touted as important for economic development.
Until that goal is reached, Stillwater will remain a micropolitan statistical area. If the 1.6 percent annual growth rate is calculated through 2010 off of the last successful estimate challenge, the city will come up more than 500 short of 50,000 by 2010.
Stillwater Chamber of Commerce CEO Larry Brown said Friday Stillwater’s continued growth is a large part of the equation. With strong retail expansion and a major university, “We continue to see growth in our community,” Brown said.
Recent economic outlooks for the area have showed Oklahoma and Stillwater fairing well through the national economic downturn. Numbers presented in February by Dr. Mark Snead, director of the Center for Applied Economic Research at OSU, showed Oklahoma’s housing market has remained strong with the exception of isolated areas, and 1,650 jobs were added in the county last year. That growth is not expected to remain as high in 2008, but Snead forecast 2 percent employment growth in the county.

Are you kidding? That place should be on some historical landmark list.
It's certainly not high-brow now, but it's a far cry from the rough, biker, go-at-your-own-risk place it used to be.

I have all ready google mapped the area. Where we are going looks pretty much like it did when I was in school. We are staying at a hotel on Hall of Fame just E of Perkins Rd.
Funny thing I noticed, the house we lived in is now a parking lot for the future Athletic Village on W Connell. My first apartment is still standing on Duck Street just across from the First Christian Church and the practice fields.
It will be interesting to see all the changes since the last time I was there.
