View Full Version : RATS... Ford/We missed AGAIN
Harrison goes elsewhere per ESPN. Not even sure we finished in his top 2 or 3.
:helpme:
VERB...I just caught the end of it, and think they said St.Johns ??
And OSU was never mentioned as even a possibility:huh::vomit-smiley-001:
That just leaves NASH as our last shot for this class right???

Ford seems to have the ability to coach guys and get them to play. Maybe another good year will allow him to get in on some of the better recruits. Thing is the great recruits aren't always the great players. I still think Pilgrim can lead us to the new frontier and Moses can get us to the promised land:rollseyes: Sorry,I had to do that.:stupe:

The one bright spot that I see in this "loss", is that we were actually in the running to begin with...
he's getting us there, where we're in the conversation and in the home (something he had never done with big-time recruits prior to his stint here at OSU).
We still lead on the top SF out there... we now have our dog in the hunt, and that's the first step.

All in all, we have had one year when we got pretty much who we wanted, and that includes Eddie's years. We don't have a history of recruiting well here. Some one the good guys we get are retreads, someone else's problems, or locals who wanted to come here anyway. We couldn't even get Dex Pittman when his daddy was a cult hero here (ok, so you can question to whether we really wanted him in the end, but at the time, we did). We only got the Grahams as JUCO transfers because of connections. JL3 we only got because of the Baylor thing. Allen and JamesOn and Boggan came here to find sactuary from other situations. Big Country came because he was a big dumb hick no one knew or cared about until we did.
Most all of our stars have been lightly recruited diamonds in the rough, transfers, or fleeing some other situation. For the most part, it is just the way it has always been.

James Anderson was our last big recruit I think.

Obi was rated higher coming out of HS by some reports. I think Byron was also a 5 Star. It seems that James was just a little more high profile but was a 4 star.

Byron was in that class; but do you think he ever played like a 5-star?

Hell yes, in spurts. He just wasn't consistent. But when I think about game closers we've had over the years, he was one of the best. KU had *no* answer for him the last year we won with him in GIA. Eaton to the line, Eaton to the line...over and over.
