Coaching saga continues

NO WORD YET
Sean Sutton: The Oklahoma State basketball coach hasn’t had his postseason performance review with athletic director Mike Holder. Sutton has been out of state recruiting and Holder has been following the Cowgirls in the NCAA Tournament.

STILLWATER -- More than a week has passed since Oklahoma State's basketball season ended and there has been no word on Sean Sutton's job status.

Here's one reason why: It is standard practice for athletic directors to meet face-to-face with coaches for year-end evaluations. But OSU coach Sean Sutton and athletic director Mike Holder have mostly been in different locales since OSU's first-round NIT defeat at Southern Illinois.

OSU's season ended Tues day, March 18, and the basketball team returned to campus the next day. Sutton hit the road recruiting and secured a visit from College of Southern Idaho forward Juan Pattillo, who is coming to Stillwater this weekend.

Holder left Stillwater late last week to watch OSU's women's basketball team play first- and second-round NCAA Tournament games Saturday and Monday in Des Moines, Iowa. After returning to Stillwater, Holder spent Tuesday in Oklahoma City for the city's courtship of an NBA franchise.

Sutton was on the road recruiting Wednesday and Holder is scheduled to travel to New Orleans on Thursday for the Cowgirls' Sweet Sixteen game with LSU. Unless a window of opportunity can be found for a face-to-face meeting, it appears the Sutton saga will be resolved later rather than sooner.

Sutton completed the second year of a five-year contract and has a record of 39-29 with two NIT appearances.
