I'm not what kind of hawk it was but it had a wingspan two and a half to three feet wide.

I live on a course where I overlook 6 fairways and a creek and we have several hawks flying high overhead. When they spy a squirrel and go after it is quite a sight

I could be wrong, but, I believe it's a Red Tailed Hawk. They can have a wingspan of up to 48".

How big was he?

In person, could you see what color eyes he had?

Looks like a sharpshin or a coopers to me.

Got lots of those out here.

His wingspan looked to be around two feet or so. He was in a tree about 30 ft up on the other side of the fairway my son was playing. I didn't really want to walk around too close because I was afraid I might scare him off. I'm pretty pleased with the way the pictures turned out for being so far away.

Here's what a red-tailed hawk looks like:

It may be a young cooper's hawk. Looks like a cooper's hawk has the same light orangish-brown belly.
