Marist gave them all they wanted for most of the game until they finially broke it open. If we give it the effort we gave tonight and be able to hit some of those wide open shots, then yes, we have a chance. We can't shoot 36% from the field and 60% from the line and expect to win.:violent-smiley-017:

I only wish I could catch the game out here. They always show some other game. I would bet I won't get to catch the Cowgirls until their Elite 8 matchup ;)

I completely agree. We didn't shoot well at all tonight, but we hustled and played good D, and did a heck of the job on the boards. If we play with the same intensity against LSU as we did tonight and shoot better, we'll whoop'em!!!!! Let's get another win girls!!!!!!

It depends on which LSU team shows up. They have been inconsistent this year. Sometimes their 6'6" Center (Fowles) can not miss. Sometimes she can't hit the broad side of a barn. She will get rebounds no matter what. She is the leading rebounder in SEC history with 1557 rebounds. And she is surrounded by some exceptional talent. They actually have a guard that is smaller than Andrea, and she usually adds about 15 to 18 points per game.
Basically LSU is widely regarded as one of the top 6 programs in the nation this year. Most list TN, CT, Rutgers, NC, Maryland and then LSU. They have beaten Tennessee at Knoxville and then lost to them in Baton Rouge. They played CT a very close game. They have lost to Maryland early in the season and I think lost to Rutgers in a tight game.
Do we have a chance? If we bring our A game and we can knock down some 3's from the outside and open up the middle a bit we will have a chance. One thing about Fowles is she can sometimes get in foul trouble. If that happens then they are basically down to 2 guards to beat you.
It is not going to help that we have to play them in New Orleans. It will be like a home game for them and they travel well.

I was around in 1991 but do not remember anything about the women's team making it to the sweet 16. Maybe because it is gotten better attention these days with the sucess of zerou and baylor and the Big 12 getting 8 teams and all wins 1st round games:food-smiley-007:

I think that is a fair assessment MemphisPoke... I agree that LSU is a top 6 or 5 team...
One advantage that people seem to not be talking about is the fact that it is basically a home game for LSU... gotta overcome that
