View Full Version : My Wife's New Car

So, I decided that my wife needed a new car. She'd been driving the same 99 Nissan Maxima for 5 years. She never complained because it's been a great car. The only thing I ever did to it was the usual maintenance, tires, brakes, oil changes, etc. She really liked the Nissan Muranos. I thought that since I've gotten the 2 last new cars (both of my Nissan Titan's) that it was her turn.

We test drove a new Ford Edge, and they were just O.k. She really had her heart set on a Nissan Murano. So we went over to Bob Moore Nissan in Norman to test drive one. The salesman took us to the first one, a 2007 SL being the most expensive. Loaded, and I mean loaded to the gills. Rear DVD, Heated Leather Seats, Back-up Camera, sunroof, Bose stereo with Sub-woofer, all the bells and whistles. She drove it and fell in love with it. We drove another one, and she didn't like it as much. Of course. So we go back to the first one. So, we got this little baby. We drove it all over yesterday and today, and I got to actually drive it today. Wow!!! It's so cool. It has the CVT (Continuous Variable Speed Transmission) or whatever. This thing "NEVER" shifts. It's so smooth. There are no shift points whatsoever. The thing is cool.

On the way home from my sisters last night, I actually rode in the backseat and watched Office Space. The back seats recline and are so comfortable, I almost fell asleep. It as an AV hookup on the DVD Player so that you can plug in your gamesystem and play video games. Just too cool.

Oh well, here are a couple of pictures of it.

And, the guage illumination is even orange! Can't go wrong with that!

For the price, and everything you get, I would highly suggest one. The ride is really nice and tight and handles like a dream!

Okay, I'm done! :)

We will be buying a new car either this fall or next year. Can you tell me what you didn't like about the Ford Edge? We are considering the Ford Edge, Honda CR-V, Saturn Vue or a Nissan Murano or Rogue. Also, what are they telling you the gas mileage is on the Murano? Thanks!

Sweet vehicle by the way!

If you don't mind, what's the sticker price on that thing and what kind of ACTUAL mileage is it getting, not just what it says on paper.

very nice, I like the color of it.

I also would like to know what you guys didn't like about the edge, or did she just have her hart set on that car?

How does a Edge and Murano compare pricewise? I really like them both. There's a sweet Edge out here at the dealership. Loaded like you Murano.

I miss my suv sometimes.

Can you buy me a new one, I have only been driving the same pickup for 13 1/2 years? I don't ever complain.

Looks great man, hope she don't let you drive it anymore!!

that black one?? back off, missy, that one is mine! Not really, but i like it too. we will be in the car market later this year and i am having a hard time making up my mind what i want. actually i know what i want, i just don't want to pay for it or the gas it would take to drive it. I am interested too to find out what they didn't like about the edge, because i think they look pretty good.

When did 5 years become a big deal? My parents drove the same cars for 20 years and I'm only on 5 on my current car. My previous car was almost 10 years with no A/C and would have kept driving it if the repair costs hadn't outweighed the value.

Take it back and drive the 99 for another 5 years.

The mileage on paper is listed 19 City, 24 HWY. Realistically, with all the driving we've done, (mostly City - the computer says we're getting about 18.) I don't really trust the computer though. She just filled up today, so when she fills up again, I think I'll have a more realistic grasp on the actual mileage she's getting. It's mostly HWY, since we live in Blanchard and she works off of NW Expressway.

The sticker price was $28,900, but you never pay that. That's just where they started. They gave us $5500 for her car, and took some off of the price, so it's not too bad.

This one is loaded, though. They had more 2007's and a couple 2006's, with less than 30K miles that were less than $20,000.

The Ford Edge that we drove was brand-new, and Krissy didn't want to go that route. They (the base model, nothing fancy, no DVD, No leather, No Vista Sunroof) start at I think 28-32,000 and the loaded one was I think 36 or 38,000. Krissy didn't care for the way they drove. It was just her personal opinion. Blind spot on drivers side.

She narrowed her search down to wanting to look at the Ford Edge, Nissan Murano, Saturn Vue, and the Mazda cross-over SUV. We test drove the Edge, and never got passed the Murano(2nd car looked at). We didn't look at the others. I will say this, she already loved the Murano, before driving any of the cars. So, it's probably safe to say that, like Ivan said, she already had her heart set on it.

Oh well. Great car.
