WSU is certainly no powerhouse, but we put a pretty good thumpin' on em. I think the prognostications of finishing 5th or 6th in the south are a little premature. The defense certainly looks faster, Weeden and Hunter look great, and the receivers started to look better as the game went on.
Texas and OU looked a little sluggish against vastly inferior competition, so the south may be a bit more wide open than anybody predicted.
It may be early, but I'm starting to get excited.
And how many yards COULD Spud have racked up if he'd been left in? It boggles the brain!

One thing that looked pretty bad compared to normal standards was the return game. Horrible decisions there I thought.
Didn't really take the tarp off the receiving game, but the screens did look horrible. I don't think we had more than one of those work.

The worst part of the return game was that not one time did anyone block a gunner.
The ball was snapped and those guys were sprinting towards our returners, completely untouched.
That was disappointing.

The scary thing for Troy and the rest of the opponents on our schedule is that we've got good coaches who I am sure will be making adjustments in all three phases of the game after watching film from last night.

I don't think there are many coaches at the D1 level that wouldn't do the same, but I hope it is only youth not playing correctly. We have always made poor decisions in the return game in the past that have been masked by pure athleticism. Cox and Dez both would not fair catch balls that should have been. If you have gunners coming straight on you should fair catch it in my opinion. Cooper made better decisions than Gilbert by far.
