I was wearing a blue cap that had the Oklahoma seal and the word Oklahoma on it. I can't even count how many times I was asked "how good is OU this year?" I responded the same each time, "I don't know, I'm a OSU Cowboy fan and we're going to do pretty well."
THe most informative part of the trip was Friday night at a Freedomworks conference with Dick Armey, Michelle Bachmann, Rep. Mike Lee, and Rev C.L. Bryant. The rally itself was good. There wasn't any real protestors, just a few folks with signs. I saw three heated discussions but I didn't see anybody punching it out. One guy was accusing the other of being a racist for being there and the other guy replied that he started getting involved when George Bush passed the original TARP and bailed out the auto industry pointing out that Obama has continued the stupid spending so he has continued to protest. The race card is BS and always has been. From the folks I talked with, there were a large number of small business owners and self-employed folks. The crowd went from the Lincoln Memorial to about 150 yards short of the Washington Monument. I have no idea how many people that is but it is quite a bit larger than the BPS crowd on game day. If I do it again, I think I will allow a few more days so I can take my granddaughter and see the sites. All-in-all a good weekend.

The race card is BS and always has been.

But sadly, effective.

I just don't understand what people want...you put Republicans in office, and there's gonna be spending out the ass...you put Democrats in office, and there's gonna be spending out the ass...if anyone believes we're in better shape with one party over the other, they're crazy...

The only real solution I can see is what has worked in the past...Republican Congress with a Democratic president (or vice versa)...forces them to actually compromise and make changes that could work...

Oh, and enjoy the sites in DC...I love sight-seeing in that town, but would never want to live there (for various reasons)...

I think we would be better off if we took a 5 year vacation from any governing at all. Just do absolutely NOTHING for 5 years and then take stock as to where we are.

Someone said that Texas only meets 3 mouths out of the year to make laws... is that true? If so maybe the feds should consider that, so they have to live in the world they create.

It is every other year in Texas. I always thought it was odd when I lived down there, but I think it makes a lot of sense. They also only meet for 140 days.
