I was hoping to catch the last episode of Heroes, but I got caught up watching the replay of the first part of the Sci-Fi Channel miniseries Tin Man. If you haven't heard, this is their treatment of the classic story The Wizard of Oz.

If you get a chance, watch this miniseries. The storytelling is brilliant and the characters are very fascinating twists on the originals. Doesn't hurt that there is a really good cast (Richard Dreyffus, Alan Cumming, Raoul Trujillo, etc.)

Well the ratings were kind to it...

"Night 1 of the new SCI FI Channel miniseries Tin Man is the network's highest rated telecast ever, SCI FI announced today. The first installment in the reimagining of L. Frank Baum's classic tale "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" earned a 4.2 average household rating, and was watched by more than 6.3 million people.

The premiere unseats the 2002 hit Steven Spielberg Presents: TAKEN, which drew 6.1 million viewers and went on to win an Emmy Award."

Yeah. The last installment is tonight.

The best part is that it has a lot of cross-demographic appeal. Erin is not a huge sci-fi person, but I got her to sit and watch most of Part 2 with me. When she saw the preview for Part 3 she said "I know what I'm watching tomorrow night". Considering what we usually like to watch on Tuesdays, that's saying something.

Since I can't TiVo it, I'm going to wait until it comes out on DVD and either get it via NetFlix or just buy it outright.

I searched my tivo last night and episode 1, 2, and 3 are airing back to back on Sunday afternoon starting at 4:00. I could be wrong with the time, but that was the next time I found episode 1 airing. I set it up to record. Not sure when I'll ever get caught up with my tivo since I never seem to have time to watch TV, but it will be there waiting for me until I get to it. :)

Exactly. I wouldn't have known about it otherwise.

I say that cause they canceled stargate and other sci fi shows (farscape) due to poor ratings, but they never marketed it out side of scifi channel.

So after watching the series, I thought overall it was pretty good, but I thought the ending was kind of cheesy. Some of the end dialogue between DG and Azkadeliah was really bad, and the way it ended (trying to write this abstract enough as not to ruin anything) was pretty anti-climactic, but other than the ending, I liked the O.Z. universe that they had created.
