One of the toughest things i've ever done. It's was a monster! I did it for my mom and my son. I Still struggle with it when i get nervous or stressed, but not about to start back again. Ever. After everything i saw mom go through in Houston? Heck no. I'm not going to be sick like that over cigarettes.
I'm fighting weight gain
I'm fighting mood swings
I'm fighting urges that i STILL have
I haven't beaten anyone up, so i'm good.
But i'm doing it. I even made it 4 days in Las Vegas in the smoke filled casinos without lighting up.
:cool-smiley-027:=stinky
:food-smiley-007:=eating lots of this
:music-smiley-005: Rock on!
Sea, you still a non smoker? I know you did it for my mom as well. She'll never forget that. She tells everyone her "friend" stopped smoking for her.

I am now a $250 dollar per month nicotine gum-a-holic. Between the gum and espresso, you're probably safer around a crack-head than me when I am without :furious3:

Congratulations! I did it long ago and even though I'm just a tad under Jabba the Huts' weight -- it was worth it.

Damn Skippy!!!! I'm flattered that your mom would say that. Just tell her my decision was made easier for me when I heard about all the crap she had to go through!!!! October 30, 2007 was my last day of smoking.

I quit a few days before the Independence Bowl. I'd planned on quitting at the first of the year, but got a nasty bout of the flu coupled with an upper respiratory infection. Nothing like two weeks of coughing up a lung to remind you how much you DON'T want that next cigarette.
I haven't had one since then and find I almost never even crave one any more. I use holistic calming herbs (pill form and legit) and that helps take the edge off of the anxiety in the rare occasion I do get an urge to want to smoke. Works wonders.

Isn't this something that should be asked in private if not immediatly voluntered?
Congratulations on your success with this.

Uhhh, is it really a private matter? I mean, really? It wasn't a private matter when we talked about it on the open board during her tests.
Unreal. Forget it. I was just hoping she had thrown them away, but wasn't upset if she hasn't yet. It's tough to do, i know this firsthand. I guess being concerned about someone is off limits.

We have some very serious health and life issues going on and, frankly, however it may have been intended, the whole thread kind of comes off as "Well I did, so what's your problem?"
She has been advised by both doctors not to take on anything severely stressful such as quiting cold turkey right now. The three to five a day she smokes is not a major concern to our family doctor or the neurologist at this time.
Dortha is really only getting on the board to update Aiden's thread right now.

I was hoping her health was better, and that she quit smoking. I'm going to assume you aren't coping well with your other problems, hence the snarky reply. A gracious reply would have been nice.

Well, it's your board so you can do as you like with it.

I think you need a little vacation. Go ahead and take one.
I think it might be best if we all just forget about this thread and let it drift down to the bottom of the page. I'm just grateful that some have been able to quit and that Dortha's health is stable.
Meanwhile, how 'bout them Cowgirls? :D

I think we can all agree on that one. If they tighten up on the turnovers I don't see why they can't bring home a trophy.
