I really enjoyed the unsupervised access to the entire WEZ and stadium! It's really cool to attend the different team meetings, plus the practices! Weeden looks great!

We had two social events where we hung out with the coaches.

I was heading to a team meeting and there was no one around and I bump into Mike Holder! He said he gets lost in the WEZ since he doesn't office out of there. It was nice to talk with him one on one.

Here's some video I shot: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...eoid=106150392 (http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=106150392)

We may be young, but we're going to be a lot better than past young OSU teams. We just have better athletes! We're going to surprise a lot of people!

Did I mention that Weeden looks great!

If you get a chance to go next year, GO! You'll have a great time!

STILLWATER — In the early days of Oklahoma State's fall football camp, Cowboys offensive line coach Joe Wickline addressed his troops.

In the back of the meeting room sat Gary Heitgrass.

A true freshman just months removed from attending his prom? No, Heitgrass is an OSU donor and Cowboy Extreme Camp participant.

"We've been given free rein," Heitgrass said. "We can walk wherever we want, see anything and talk to anybody. It's been great."

Heitgrass and Rusty Fleming were among 52 participants in the first Cowboy Extreme Camp in which anyone can pay $1,000 to spend three days embedded inside the OSU football program.

"The experience was super," Fleming said. "It gives you an inside look at what a coach goes through on a day-to-day basis, what their schedule is like and how fast the game is for the players. It was very educational and extremely well organized."

The camp began on OSU's first day of fall practice on Aug. 6 and ended on Sunday. In those three days, the campers were allowed to roam the halls and interact with the coaching staff and players, spend time in position meetings and watch practices.

While several colleges hold fantasy camps, which allow adults to experience the daily schedule of a college football player, OSU's camp is unique. It allows campers to experience the OSU football program at full tilt as the Cowboys prepare for the 2010 season.

Campers had the option to watch practice and observe position meetings allowing an inside look at the day-to-day operation of the Cowboys program. Weitgrass and Fleming pointed to the positional meetings with the coaches as one of their favorite aspects of the experience. Campers could attend any coach's position meeting they chose.

"Joe Wickline is very entertaining and doesn't hold back," Weitgrass said. "Dana Holgorsen was very interesting with his philosophy and seeing what is in store for us this year."

The meetings also showed football can be a language of its own. In Bill Young's positional meeting with the defensive line, Fleming battled to keep pace.

"It was moving so fast in a different language that I didn't understand," Fleming said.

The unlimited access allowed campers to get to know the players and be a part of a private moment.

"I came to the first practice of the season," Heitgrass said. "I got to see the huddle at the end of practice and see Jamie Blatnick and Victor Johnson (two players with recent off-the-field troubles) make apologies to the team. That was pretty emotional."

Weitgrass and Fleming said they would love to participate in the camp again next season as they learned a lot during the three days inside the program.

"It hits you between the eyes that there is a lot more teaching that goes on than just go recruit some five-star guy," Fleming said. "There's a little more to this job than the public appreciates."

Scott, I would loan you $1,000 but I'm afraid you would blow it on something extreme.
