First time I'd seen that one. Although with one officer killed in the line of duty every 3 days or so on average, it's hard to keep up.

I'm not sure why he did the search of the coat pocket in the first place. Might have been an illegal search and the evidence would have been supressed. Don't find the weed and maybe you're still alive.

The most dangerous words an officer ever says are, "You're under arrest." You never really know what's going to happen next.

However, once you make the decision to arrest and you have the person's hands, don't lose control. They're not going to kill you with a dirty look or by calling you a pig, it's the weapon in their hand that's going to get you.

Also, making the arrest next to the passenger door of the pickup truck looks pretty bad in retrospect.

Just bad all the way around. Very sad. Did they get the bad guys? Did the officer have a family?

god that's hard to watch. Those guys took 20 shots at him... every time I see videos like that I respect the police patrolmen even more.

They got the guys a few hours later in a high speed chase, and yes he has a wife and child. Very lucky he survived it.
