OSU Women's Notebook: Getting to the line

A large part of Oklahoma State's game plan this season hinged on getting to the free-throw line.
OSU led the Big 12 Conference in free throws made (502) and attempts (728).
In the two regular season games with Texas A&M, OSU was 32-of-47 at the charity stripe while the Aggies were 11-of-22.
In the Big 12 Conference Tournament championship game, the Cowgirls were 14-of-20 compared to the Aggies' 7-of-10.
But it wasn't enough to catapult OSU to its first Big 12 championship.
OSU wins halftime battle: OSU freshman Suzanne Hermanski almost didn't come to Kansas City for the tournament.
But when one of her friends dropped out, Hermanski rearranged two tests to make the trip.
And was she ever happy.
The former Garber High School basketball player sank three shots and made the quickest return to the halfcourt line to earn a year's worth of gas ($2,600) from Phillips 66, the sponsor of the Big 12.
"I'm lucky I'm here," she said. "I got the call late Tuesday. But am I ever glad I came. I hear gas is getting ready to go up."
Attendance drops: The Big 12 women's championships set an attendance record of 48,900, averaging 8,165 per game, in 2007 in Oklahoma City.
The numbers at this year's tournament in Kansas City dropped off considerably.
Through the semifinal round on Thursday, the tournament had drawn 19,770, an average of 1,977.
The Big 12 offered $2 general admission tickets to anyone bringing a ticket from any of the men's sessions. With Saturday's attendance of 4,420 the total was 24,190.
