I have watch you long enough to know that you are an intelligent man but I keep hearing you refer to Oklahoma State as Okie State. The Okies were the ones that left the state back in the dust bowl and moved to California. I do not hear you or any other sports guys call OU, Okie U?

Think he won't refer to us as Okie State until he dies now?
hmmmmmmmmmm?
Who gives a flyin' f? I kind of liked it when nobody gave a shite about us. It made it better when we upset somebody. It makes our fanbase stronger. Keeps the bandwagoneers off of this ship.
National stage, my ever creeping to the gray haired side of mediocrity ass!!!!
BWAaaaaaaahAhahahAAAHHaaaaa??????
There's always next year and the next year, and the next year. And, the hits just keep on coming.
At least we have wrestling? Huh? Or maybe, at least we have Golf? Oh wait, at least there's baseball. Ah yes, America's Pastime!!!
(Please forgive me. It's obviously late, I've had a few, and I can't sleep. Nothing new.)

He hasn't seen his ankles since God was a corporal. Why don't you tell the lard-ass to call "Jenny" about the "okie state" cure for his obese stupidity?:food-smiley-007::food-smiley-007::food-smiley-007::food-smiley-007::vomit-smiley-001:

I've never understood why people get so bent out of shape over the term "Okie"... Some people tell me it should be just as offensive to Oklahomans as the "N-Word" is to blacks, but I've lived here my entire life and I fail to find reason to get so tore up over it.
Yes, I'm well aware of its historical connotations (as in the John Steinbeck sense), but to me, referencing Oklahoma State as "Okie State" is far less offensive and more forgivable than when people mistakenly reference the "Oklahoma State Sooners".

Another way of looking at that is that "Okie" is synonymous with "white trash", which of course is a synonym for "Sooner".
Yes, it's offensive!

if a contestant for ESPN's dream job tried calling us okie state, he/she would get ripped by the judges. that's all that needs to be said...if it's unprofessional/unacceptable for people wanting into journalism, it should be the same for those already in.

I'm feeling just a bit like pecking at the walls of ignorance today so I sent him this... lol
I eagerly await being ignored...

Since you seem to be quite fond of the term I thought you might want to know a bit more of its history and usage.
Similarly to certain ethnic and racial terms, "Okie" is generally viewed as being non-prejudicial when used by a native Oklahoman but it becomes a slur when used by others. While it is certainly not perceived as being as venomous as some of the terms I have alluded to in comparison; it is not a term of endearment.
If it is your intention to be mildly offensive, you are doing well but if you had thought the term was non-prejudicial I am afraid you are in error.

Well said! And I take offense to okie state, oak state or oklahoma (without the state) as some have called us. In my mind, it is as much about laziness as anything. It's certainly easier to say oak state or okie state than Oklahoma State.

Then I stand by my original post. If I personally hear or hear about big boy Newy using that term again, then he will get dose of questionable terminology right back at him.
Now somebody needs to work on Norm Hitzges who does the same sh!-!t.
