The week has just begun, but I think I've already got the CASE OF THE WEEK:
Dude goes to an old fashioned revival meeting. Preacher comes up from Texas and does a good job.
Dude meets with preacher after the church service is over.
Preacher: Do you want to know Christ?
Dude: Yes, I do.
Preacher: DO YOU WANT TO KNOW CHRIST?
Dude: Yes, I do.
Preacher: DO YOU WANT TO KNOW CHRIST ?????
Dude: Yes, I do.
Preacher kicks Dude in the chest. Dude flies through the air about 10 feet and lands flat on his back. Preacher runs up to Dude and tries to raise his hands in the air, possibly in order to help Dude better praise Jesus. That didn't work out too well, though. Dude has one bad shoulder and the other shoulder just had surgery. And the kick to the chest resulted in 3 broken ribs.
Dude was going to call the cops, then decided not to. Then he decided to call the cops and then he decided not to. Anyway, after a few days, he calls the cops and wants to pursue criminal charges.
So....if you're on the jury, do you convict the preacher for battery? Nobody thinks this was intentional. Preacher had no idea he had hurt Dude. Preacher said he will pay for the medical bills and is very apologetic.
OK. So you're on the jury. Assuming the Preacher pays for the damages, would you vote to convict?
