No punishment for OSU's Riley after altercation with Texas player

KANSAS CITY — Oklahoma State's Andrea Riley will play in Saturday night's Big 12 Tournament title game, following a conference review of an incident in the Cowgirls semifinal win over Texas.

Riley's status was in doubt after she struck the face of the Longhorns' Earnesia Williams during a scramble or a loose ball.

Big 12 spokeswoman Joni James saidBi g 12 "reviewed the play and handled the matter internally, according to rules and procedures."

James said the league would have no further comment.

"I have not seen it," Cowgirls coach Kurt Budke said before the team's practice Friday. "I know it was a physical game, a lot of pushing and shoving and a lot of emotion running.

"We talk to our kids about keeping their heads for 40 minutes. You don't have the right to push somebody and we'll look at it and we'll look at it with Andrea, also. Oklahoma State plays by the rules."

I did not even realize they that push had warranted that much attention. This couls have made for a hard game.

It looked to me that she intentionally shoved the girl, but I dont think she meant to land the shove on her head.

Riley just doesnt seem like that kind of player.
