My son qualified to play in his first away golf tournament with the OCU golf team. They are traveling to Ft. Worth tomorrow to play in a Saturday-Sunday tournament. He will be playing as an individual (not varsity) but this is the first time he's got to travel to an out-of-town tournament so we're excited. :)

I loved to take pics but we're not sure we're going. I have to be at work on Monday (two of my bosses will be gone) so they will need me to be at work. It would be a quick long trip if we go because we could only see them on Sunday. Decisions, decisions.

Well, we're going! It will make for a very busy, quick weekend but we're headed to Ft. Worth tomorrow. Yeah!!!

I'm back in Stillwater after a quick weekend.

Chris did pretty good Sunday shooting a four-over 76. His score beat two of the scores on Varsity but they don't count it as he played as an individual. Here's just one of the pictures I took.

Oh, the biggest news was the practice round yesterday. Chris shot a five-under 67 Saturday and hit his second hole-in-one on Hole #17. The whole team and the coach got to see him hit it in. He just wished he had done all that today (Sunday) and tomorrow the forecast is rain, rain and more rain.

What course did they play?

They are playing at Hawks Creek Golf Club in Fort Worth, Texas. It may be a lot nicer when it greens up but I wasn't too impressed. The temperature was between 68 and 71 and there was one water cooler on the whole course. No restrooms or port-a-potties and there is no shelter if storms hit. Probably more information than you asked for. hehe

That's a great pic OSUFan, catching the ball in flight like that.

Tiger would have your azz for taking that shot though! :)

LOL! No kidding. Chris told me after the round he heard the camera. I'm going to have to be a little farther away, I guess. :)

Chris just called and said he shot a two-under 70 today. I won't go into details but he thinks he may have the low round for the day. The second best round so far today has been a 77 and 69 was the low round yesterday. He said the wind has really picked up and I just checked and it looks like the winds currently are 26 mph with gusts to 36. So not to be mean to the rest of his team or the field but come on WIND BLOW!!!

If he would have the best round today, he could possibly be exempt from qualifying for the next two tournaments (one in Wichita and one in California) and he might even get on varsity! SCHWEETTTT!!!

He tied for the second best round of the day. He moved from tied for 28th to tied for 6th. He said he just missed being on the tournament team by one stroke (Top 5 players). Still a great tournament and the coach has him playing in a tournament on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Best news is that only one OCU varsity golfer beat Chris in the tournament. That could mean he gets to play in one more of the away tournaments in Wichita or California and maybe even start on varsity.

Thanks AnniePokely! I appreciate your comments. He's special like all our children and we, as parents, just want him to be successful.
