Redshirt freshman running back Dexter Pratt has decided to leave the Oklahoma State football program, a university source confirmed on Wednesday. Whether Pratt plans to transfer and play elsewhere is not known, the source added.

During his senior high school season at Navasota, Texas, Pratt was rated by Scout.com as the nation's No. 11 running back prospect. After rescinding his LSU commitment, he became a late addition to the Cowboys' 2009 class.

OSU remains outfitted with a solid group of running backs. Kendall Hunter, the 2008 Big 12 rushing leader, returns for his senior season. Travis Miller, who performed well during the recently completed spring-practice period, is a sophomore and former Union All-Stater Jeremy Smith is a redshirt freshman. Smith has recovered from shoulder surgery.

Joseph Randle, a four-star national recruit from Wichita, Kan., arrives in June.

I would not blame any RB for bailing with the Offense that we are running.

RB is still a critical role in the offense. However, I think Dexter was a larger more power back right? If that is the case, then he probably is not fitting in well in the offense. I think smaller, quicker, shiftier backs who can catch out of the backfield are what work best.

He was going to be 4th string. Plain and simple. A highly recruited Parade All American leaves our program because he was going to be 4th string? Really quite amazing.

Pratt leaves the same day a 5-star RB commits; coincidence?
