View Full Version : I think Jerry Jones orchestrated the whole thing.

Remember, he and Boone are buddies.
Dez at Dallas' draft position is a great deal, for both Jones and Dez, in reality.
All of the negatives on Dez didn't match the story.
Numbers didn't add up. Facts didn't add up.
I'm just saying.

There were some REAL suprises in the 7 and down range. Heck, one of them was the Raiders actually taking a very nice pick.
Anyway, Denver and Miami have been talking all week about moving down. Spiller was not supposed to go NEAR as high as he did and that forced the San Diego hand to get the Fresno RB.
All of the draft sillyness kept creeping closer and closer to Skeletor. Pretty much the only teams interested in Dez were Denver (traded out then picked the wrong WR) Miami (who just got a #1 WR and traded out) Cincy (who has been more interested in the uo TE all along) then the Ravens and Dallas. Jones couldn't believe Dez had still fallen and when he had the chance to get him he wanted to be in front of the Ravens, who were going to pick him. The Pats are already super, super loaded with picks in the draft and they got another 3rd rounder to move down 3 spots when they swapped with Jones.
Ok, so on that note, let's make fun of Denver for a bit (like all good Raiders fans can since we won up there last 2 years).
Denver has the #11 pick. Everyone they want is still there (so they say) so they trade out of the #11 and get the 49ers #13 4th rounder (113). (What's more humorous about that is that there was no way Miami was going to pick that OT and in fact the Chargers traded up to get a RB so in reality SF gave away a 4th rounder to pick the same guy they would have anyway 2 picks later) Then Denver still says they can get who they want, so they trade down again, sending the #13 to Philly for their #24 plus two 3rd rounders (70 & 87). Then, Denver moves back UP, swaping #24 and #22 with the Pats plus giving up the 49ers #113 to get a WR that no one else was going to pick ANYWAY.
THEN, Bronchoes didn't want to be done yet, so they traded back in AGAIN, so they sent their best 2nd (#43 - the one they got for Marshall) the best Philly 3rd (#70) and their own 4th (#114) to Ravens (who were pissed Skeletor just took Dez) to get Tim Tebow.
Therefore, after all of that stupid jockeying, you, Bronco fan, got to give up your All-Pro WR headcase, swap an early 4th for a late 3rd, and what you got out of it was the 2nd best WR that no one was going to pick anyway (because the only other team that wanted a WR traded you their pick) and by most accounts the 4th best QB in a weak QB year that doesn't even project to be a true QB and (again) no one was going to take him before your next pick in 2nd round which would have been 16 picks later.
Bravo, Bronchoe fan; bravo.

From SI:
Which is why the Cowboys get the highest marks on Day 1 of this year's draft. Jones will provide the support system for Bryant, and Bryant will provide the playmaking that will make other teams regret passing on him.

Class team top/down when I moved to Dallas in '74, some great teams, players "way back when". Pig Boy turned 'em into goat blowers.

I stopped being a Cowboys fan Jerry bought the team and announced he had fired Coach Landry. I understand Jerry wanted his own man to coach his team, but he could have done it in a more classy manner. He would never have even been interested in the franchise if it had not been for what Landry did on the field all those years.
Having said that, I hope Dez makes a big splash in Arlington and has a great career.
