Guard Andrea Riley made history with 3:39 remaining in Wednesday's first half, when her driving bucket moved her past Clinette Jordan atop Oklahoma State's single-season scoring list. Riley, who finished with a game-high 23 points, now has 683 for the season.
More history: Kurt Budke won his first postseason game as OSU coach, and his 50th overall with the Cowgirls.
OSU, meanwhile, snapped a five-game Big 12 tournament losing streak dating back to 2003. The Cowgirls advanced to the Big 12 semifinals for the first time since 1998. They'll shoot for their first Big 12 championship appearance tonight against Texas A&M.
Scouts' honor: Kansas entered Wednesday's quarterfinal with the second-fewest 3-pointers in the Big 12 and the third-worst 3-point per centage. OSU came out in a 2-3 zone and stayed there as the Jayhawks went 2-of-13 beyond the arc.
The Cowgirls' Taylor Hardeman outgunned KU by herself. She made 4-of-6 3-pointers to help OSU to an 8-of-15 team clip.
Heating up: The Cowgirls didn't come out smoking themselves. They made just seven of their first 20 shots over the first 12 minutes, before running the floor to create easier chances which helped them pull away in the first half.
Danielle Green scored all alone on the right block. Riley scored off the drive. Hardeman rebounded a missed 3-pointer and led Kristin Hernandez for a layup. Shaunte Smith converted off Riley's outlet pass. Maria Cordero scored inside. Riley went end to end for another layup.
OSU's 6-of-7 run pushed its lead to 38-19 with 3:39 before halftime.
