Hey, you think you could help me out with a few landscaping questions?
I've never had any done before, but I've got a local guy hired and I'm not liking what I'm seeing.

While you're waiting for LP, throw it out there for some of us board experts; you prolly won't get anything useful, but we'll try for the entertainment value.:wow2:

Okay, I don't know crap from apple butter when it comes to landscaping, but I've hired a guy to put in a hardscape for me; flagstone.
The yard slopes, and he has dug way, way down so that he can put the hard scape level. This is going to leave most of the patio below grade. I'm going to have soft dirt edges sticking up 2 or 3 inches around my hardscape and walkway. Which means I'm going to be out there with a shovel constantly shoveling dirt off my patio, and it's going to hold water like a damn pool.
Look I don't really know how to read a blueprint and I'm no general contractor, but I don't think you need to be know that the patio need to be on or above grade, do you?
I think this has gone too far for me to do anything about it now, but I was hoping Landscape couls help me out with some options.

I'd ask the contractor WTF happens when it rains re:dirt/drainage. You've got a purty good idea re:answer; throw it out there and see what kind of b.s. gets thrown back.

As a matter of fact he was wearing a goon hat, a goon shirt, and had a huge upside down longhorn on the back window of his truck. I should have known.
We had a little come to Jesus meeting, and he pulled up what he had down, and put down another load of what he called a "crusher course" to bring it mostly up to grade. I still ain't happy with it, but at least his truck isn't parked in my backyard any longer.
Oh, well.
Tell him you're going to sick Mike Holmes on his ass.
