View Full Version : So who's going?

And if you are from OK, how are you getting there. I looked at airline tickets to Pheonix and they are about 450 or so round trip leaving on the 30th and coming back the 1st from OKC. Someone earlier said it was about 14 hours to drive.

If the wife gives us the go ahead, am not sure which is preferable...any advice?

Also, will we need to rent a car if our hotel is in Tempe or is there plenty to do within cabbing distance?

I guess I'm going to pass on this trip.... Too long of a drive for my tastes and too much money to spend flying.

So, I have an extra pair of tickets available if anyone needs tickets. PM me if interested.

This might be the first bowl that I miss in 10 years. If we do go, I think it may be cheaper to fly to Vegas, then drive to Tempe. New Years in LV, that could be fun!

Also, The new board looks great!

I'm staying home, we always lose when I go to bowl games.

I'll be there for sure! Don't really have much of a choice in the matter, but that's okay with me... :)

Wish I could, but saving for a move back to Oklahoma. I'll be watching though. Anyone have a watch party place in OKC?? I'll actually be home in Enid for the holidays until the 1st and possibly could make a trip down to watch with ya'll.

We get back from Vegas on the 27th, so turning around & heading back isnt going to happen, unfortunately.

I will watch at home.

Do to my mom's health, it doesn't look like i'll be going either. However, if all goes well in Houston, i hope to have a BIG watch party in clinton!

I'm hoping to go. Gotta see how the family's schedule is looking.

Hallie (finally, after several months of interviews and rejection letters) got a great job, actually in her field, and she's not planning to rock the boat by asking for time off any time soon.

Sadly, I think this is going to punctuate how spoiled we have been, playing in Texas bowls. The prevailing wind amongst the hardcore fans who post on the boards seems to be leaning towards staying home. It doesn't sound like the "Sea of Orange" is going to be anything like the crowds of recent bowls.

Thats the main reason I want to go. I don't want our travelling reputation ruined. I will say that I hope I am wrong, but with the huge gripes about ticket prices , etc...I think that while many make OSU a priority with their time, they don't do so with their pocketbooks.

It will be an end to a traditon for me in a way.... last couple of years I have gotten my father OSU bowl game tickets for his Christmas present... sort of a father/son bonding time and it also made it really easy on me not to have to hunt down a gift for him....:)

Plus the memories are unmeasureable ... (ex.- last year at Independence Bowl eating in the parking lot all the Gumbo and all the OSU fans playing parking lot football before game... the win)

I am a little disappointed that the bowl game is not in Texas (was hoping for Alamo or Texas Bowl) already had bowl ticket requests for those games plus the Independence bowl game but can't make it too Tempe for the game.

So... it will have to be tv support for me... but I do hope everyone that can go will go... and I will have to actually do some shopping this year

Or maybe after having to pay so much for tickets, people don't want to spend that much more to travel to a bowl game. It's easy to call people out on not supporting OSU enough with their pocketbooks, but no matter how much you love OSU, there are a lot of things that are much higher on importance to people than stretching their budget to follow a .500 football team to a game in Arizona.

I don't see me going this year either. A little to far to drive.

For anyone looking for a flight, check out Dallas or Wichita. Flights are significantly cheaper, so while you might be paying for gas and parking, you could still potentially shave off a few hundred bucks.

I have the time off scheduled. I'm buying a ticket to the game. I have a hotel reserved that I can wait until two days out to cancel if need be. It'll be a "game time" decision...so to speak.

It will be an old style roadtrip without the girls if I decide to go. If anyone knows a single guy from OKC looking for a roadtrip partner....splitting gas and room expenses college style.....let me know.

We would love to go, but work is something we cannot get out of.

Price is expensive

Team at .500 does not create excitement

I look for 6,000 fans to travel. I hope for 10,000+.....just don't know.

Lots of friends are going just for the fun of going, and spending new years in Phoenix. Should be a great time....and an easy ticket. I would NOT buy tickets till I got there.

That's a pretty cool looking place. Where else can you watch TV from your bathtub and sit in a Zuzu chair (whatever that is!). Hehheh. Nice find.
