If Hayward had made either of those shots, we'd be talking about how this was the greatest NCAA final ever.

Instead, 99 percent of the country is pissed because Duke won again.

I'm remembering how I felt in 2004. We deserved better then, and everyone deserved better tonight.

I will always hate duke. They get away with all kind of crap and regardless of what the national media thinks, they play dirty. Also hate announcers like Clark Kellogg who have a man crush on all of duke players and let it cloud the game. It was definitely sickening.

Cannot believe they didn't blow the whistle on Zoubek at the end when he absolutely mauled Howard...instead, they at least got the out-of-bounds call right that it went off his foot...

But still, that was brutal and would've sent Howard to the line for 2...

According to Clark Kellogg, Howard flopped but it definitely looked like Zoubek threw an elbow to the face and essentially cleared Howard out. That would have been Zoubek's 5th foul and that couldn't happen, now could it?

Clark Kellogg had an excuse every time the refs failed to make a call.

It was definitely no flop. Zoubek shoved him HARD!!!! I still couldn't believe they called it out-of-bounds on Duke though. But you all are right, Howard should've been shooting 2 for that one!!!!

Anyone notice the pick at mid-court on that last play? Flat layed that sucker OUT. Heh!

I think the player will take that pick in exchange for the national title. Probably made it hurt a LOT less.

I thought that part would be understood.

Interesting blurb about the game on AOL's welcome page:

"Title Game Defeat Too Much to Stomach

A small school came so close to conquering a power, but in the end, we're just left with Duke smugness."

That about sums it up for me, too.

There were a couple of times where Kellogg defaulted into Duke Apologist, then would recant as soon as he saw the replay,

kind of sad really.

Have to give props to both teams...they played hard and gave us an exciting game. Thought the refs leaned a little towards Duke, though, and with a two point margin of victory every play and every foul call is critical. Still, the game was won by the three inbounds pass Duke turned into points. Butler was caught sleeping on all three.

+1. Every possession counts in a tight game. Butler kept getting it inside to Howard very early in the game and he couldn't convert. Any one of those by itself would have helped. Also thought the refs favored Duke more.

You can almost guarantee that unless they are playing UNC @ UNC and UNC is ranked higher than them, the refs will always favor Duke more.

I think it was more evident in the BU/Duke game when Duke beat a much better performing Baylor with the help of some timely zerba calls.
