View Full Version : Nothing major, but could use some small prayers!

My step daughter Holly stayed with us all last week, and we had her in the ER twice. She was in EXTREME amounts of pain, and eating painkillers every three hours for 4 days. We finally found out that her gallbladder is only functioning at 29%, so we are headed to OKC to see a surgeon this afternoon. Holly has never been in the hospital (except to have our two grandsons) and has never had a medical procedure. She's a little nervous, but i told here there is nothing to be nervous about. Piece of cake.

She's had a pretty rough year, to be quite honest. She went through a divorce with a ugly ex husband, (who still gives her grief every other day of her life) a career change (she's a professor at SWOSU) and now this illness. A few prayers would make things better for her.

Gall bladder ops have gotten MUCH better. Back in the 80's they were still slicing you open pretty good to take them out, but now they can do many of them laproscopic with very minimal downtime.

Tell her it's not that big of a deal if they HAVE to take it out. Some foods might upset her stomach a little if overdone but it's not all that limiting on your diet to not have a GB.

Went through that with someone once.. as surgeries go.. it's not too too bad...

I had my gallbladder removed 2 years ago. I had surgery on Monday and was back at work on Friday. It's really easy, and I haven't had any problems since my surgery with any particular foods.

Surgery is friday morning. We have to be at Baptist hospital @ 6:45 am. Four small incisions and she comes home the same day. Piece of cake.

Poor thing. She's going to be a huge whiner, and i'm not kidding..LOL
She doesn't take pain well, and she's scared!

Thanks for the prayers! You guys rock!

Annie, thoughts and prayers with you and Holly.

My husband had this operation 2weeks ago! His gall bladder function was 0%! He was in pain for a long time but sucked it up until he could no longer handle it. Four small scars where they did the incisions; expect some bruising around the incision sites. He had his on a Wed. and was back to work the following Monday. He did get restless during his recovery and I caught him outside the Sat. after surgery with a rake!

Hey Bev! I haven't seen you in awhile. Glad you finally posted!

It helps that next week is spring break, so she'll have the entire week off. Good timing on the surgery. I'm sure she'll milk it to death, and i'll be running around like a chicken with no head. I'm smart enough to not give her a bell to ring.. :cowbell:

Had mine out a few years ago. Wish I had done it 10 years ago. Nothing I eat bothers me now, no matter how late I eat.

I will tell you this, it hurt like a bit@h. I couldn't button my pants or buckle a belt for a week. My doc said it was actually a little easier on gals because they could wear a dress and probably be back at work in just a few days.

I guess I could have worn a dress also, but I opted for PJ's and the couch. I did get some killer pain meds. I saved those for when I was feeling better.:D

Hope she come thru with flying colors.

It went good. She was in some good pain on friday and saturday, but didn't take pain pills yesterday. She went home to her own house this morning. She was probably more than ready. I've been in a foul mood all weekend....LOL

She'll be good as new in a few days!
